SAVE STAR WARS d20! SIGN OUR PETITION to WoTC!

They're keeping the Minis line, but not the RPG. Don't the IDIOTS realize that the majority of people who buy the Minis want them for the RPG...

The "idiots" might possibly know more about who buys what for what reason than you do. They did the math and they made the call.

[JPL puts his "Power of the Jedi" book somewhere safe, remembering rumors that it sells for $100 these days...]

I'm sure if all the people who only buy the minis to play the RPG were to stand up, gather in front of the doors of a store at the next big minis release, and hold hands to chant: "No Miniaturization Without Representation!" ...

They'd be found several hours later with shoeprints all over them.

People like convenient things. RPGs are never convenient. They'll always be a labor of love for all involved, and thus sell tiny fractions of what you can sell pre-packaged plastic and cardboard game pieces for. Sometime I wish I had the mentality of a hardcore Card/Minis gamer who can get excited about the next randomized release and see the end of a product line ... not as an ending, but as the beginning of another plasti-crack line for me to purchase. Much easier.

I signed. WOTC has apparently removed the thread that talks about the petition.
No they didn't. . .

The large number of "Sticky" threads on the WotC forums was bogging down the servers, so each board consolidated to a single sticky post which was a directory of important threads, the Petition thread is linked from the sticky at the top of the "Mess Hall" main Star Wars forum. That and WizO_the_Hutt, one of the two mods for that board still links to the petition in his own signature.

WotC knows there is demand for Star Wars RPG product. GM Sarli (aka WizO_the_Hutt) has taken the time to point out to WotC every time an OOP SWRPG book sells for an outrageous sum on eBay, and while he has said he's bound by NDA's and the like, he can say that from his discussion with higher-ups, they know there is a strong demand for the product, it's all a matter of finances.

So, keep the faith folks, while things are grim now, they've been far grimmer for Star Wars roleplaying in the past (like say, circa 1999). WotC will go back to the RPG when they think it will be the most profitable course of action they can take, for now the minis are making more money.

Part of me thinks, how much new "crunch" do we need? Other than some clone wars/Episode III material, we've got the basic mechancs for just about everything Star Wars, with loads upon loads of PrC's and Feats. For setting info, they still make the Essential Guides and other non-gaming sourcebooks, which can be easily used. Yes, some rules could use revision, but that's always the case. Enjoy the game, have fun, try and drum up support, keep WotC aware of the demand, keep playing, and wait for its return.
