Sagacious Sage

Does SL use the core D&D rules as presented or do they make lots of changes? For example, is the magic system the same (arcane/divine)? Is there alignment? Etc., etc. . .

Dead,

The changes are subtle. We do use the core/SRD. (Course not yet for 3.5 psionics but we're getting there!) But yes we have divine and arcane spellcasters. We have elves, half orcs, dwarves and halflings (darn annoying runts!). There are limited number of them creatures uhm whadda call...oh yeah gnomes. At least on Ghelspad. (Something about Hrrinnruk hunting them down.) Termana has them but they seem to keep to themselves.

However there is the whole "arcane heat" factor, druids aren't nature clerics, plenty of other nasty creatures taking over the usual spots. Uhm don't know much else. Keep asking specifics. I do better in that realm.

I'd like to incorporate Necromancer's "Lost City of Barakus" to my Scarred Lands campaign. The main problem is that I run my sessions in Hollowfaust and I have no idea where I could place the Lost City (I mean only subterranean part of module).
Any ideas?

Regards,
d.

Just remember everybody, although Nightfall is the duly appointed *sage* :D of the Scared Lands, once you buy any part of the Scared Lands the world is yours to fill out as you wish.

This is true of any campaign world. It's basically yours to do with as you wish. White Wolf may own the copyright to the printed version, but your campaign is yours to do with as you please. Don't let anyone tell you different. Nightfall is offering Official answers; but they are only opinions. For instance, if you don't want a certain city in your Scared Lands (Hollowfaust or Nightfall's favorite) you don't have to have it. Simple as that.

Just a quick clarification:

I am NOT an official. I don't do development. I don't do editing. I have done freelancing. What I am is a fan and voice of the Scarred Lands. (And also resource manager/SL info provider.) But Elton is right. The Scarred Lands are yours to use as you wish. But I do like to consider myself a semi-authoritive voice in the Scarred Lands since I am listed as an NPC. :)

danant,

I recommend some where in the heart of the Mounds of Man. Perhaps near the Last Watchtower. That has a lot of undead near there.

(Btw Hollowfaust IS my favorite. :) Shelzar just happens to be my home town.)

Don't worry Nightfall, we won't take your advice out of context. :)

But I'm sure everyone here appreciates you taking the time to give your thoughts and wisdom regarding the Scarred Lands. To me at least, you are as good as an "official" answer any day.

Keep up the good work!

On a second note, you are an NPC in the Scarred Lands? Do you play an actual character that was made into an official Scarred Lands NPC or are you just using the name of a Scarred Lands NPC?

db,

Thanks for the vote confidence db. I just don't wish to be taken out of context and I'm glad most people understand that.

Regarding your second question, no I have had this handle longer than the NPC. What happened was a very nice freelancer (namely Dave Brohman), put Bla'yne Nightfall in Shelzar as an NPC. Therefore I am now an NPC. :)

Knowledgeble Nightfall

Are SL cultures based on Earth-type cultures; eg. European, Asian, Arabic, etc. or are they pretty much unique creations?

How do the people of Ghelspad differ in appearance, dress, culture to, say, the people of Termana?

Is there a Living SL campaign?
