Scheduling for the IRON DM 2017 Tournament

If anybody's on the fence, let me point out that there's a reason these tournaments always tend to have quite a few repeat contestants in them. Competing in an IRON DM tournament is like no other experience; once you've risen to the challenge the first time, there's a good bet you'll want to do it again and again!

If this were true you wouldn't have to fight so hard to find more entrants

But I get it, you're hyping it up so people become interested, join, and actually participate.

No, it's true. I'm really not one to exagerate. But that doesn't mean everybody knows it, of course. Demographics on this site are changing, though – and have been for a long time. A lot of people who do know don't even come by EN World anymore. But you don't have to take my word for it; you'll find out for yourself soon enough!

Heck, I rarely post on this forum much anymore. I'll usually go a couple of weeks and then pop in to see if I've missed the latest Iron DM signups. Glad that I didn't B-)

750 is very challenging. I recommend that you write a synopsis and flesh out what you need to, rather than try to race the clock while trimming down a full adventure. Check out the Round 1 entries from the last two tournaments for examples.

Seconding this, by the way. The last two years I've tried trimming down to 750 and it always makes the whole thing feel disjointed. You end up losing things like connecting tissue and context that tie the adventure together or make the whole thing make sense. I'm definitely starting simpler this time around.

Well, we might as well have some fun while we wait for the last contestant to sign up. Just to warm everybody up, here's a no-stakes set of ingredients for y'all to play around with. No word-limit, no time-limit, and no relevance to the tournament. Just practice for those who want to show off.

Sandcastle

Fruitless Endeavor

Opposite End

Magical Being

Wizened Creature

Ensorcelled Mob

I'm really curious to see this competition running and it looks like my only realistic option is to sign in for it!
Please, be kind with me... it's my first time...

Tuesday through Thursday I should be good this week.

I have a summons for Jury Duty that arrived today, and it's dated the 2nd of January. So I have to figure out what is up with that.

I am OK until Saturday and then again from 27th to 30th.
However I have a little issue: I can't open this website from work (corporate firewall prevents it) and I would appreciate receiving the ingredients by email as well. Of course I won't write the adventure during my working hours, but I will be able to start thining about it during breaks, saving some time as I will be able to write only during the evening (I recently moved to Mexico City time zone).
Is it possible?

Yaztromo, I will be using mention tags in order notify the contestants in a match when I post the ingredients. I believe the default settings for these boards will send you an email with the contents of that post (at least, mine are set up to do so). If this is the case, you should receive an email for this post. If not, let me know.

Slit518, if you and Yaztromo are willing, we may be able to get you started as soon as tomorrow. Just give me a rough time of day or night you're able to begin and we'll see if there's overlap. Also, please include the time of your post in that post, so I can adjust for time zone differences by comparing it with the time stamp, which displays in my time zone. (For what it's worth, I'm on Eastern Daylight Saving Time.)

Said that I'm on Mexico City time and that I can write only in the evening, the only time that doesn't work for me is a time that cuts in half my evening, so ideally sometimes around midday or late morning (my time) should be perfect for me, as I will be able to read the ingredients during lunch break, start thinking about it and do the writing in the evening.
Anyway, I'm here for fun and I will adapt to anything that keeps the game and the fun moving on.

EDIT: I just found past ENWorld notifications in the spam folder:n: :pso I think I should be able to receive the ingredients, if I keep checking it... just to be sure I will pass on to you my email.
