Perry Rhodan Television Series?

Another point I am curious about: was there never plans for a Perry Rhodan Movie (?) - or perhaps a television series would be more appropriate!?

I remember reading a lot of ideas that other sci-fi shows seemed to have borrowed (notably Start Trek: the Next Generation) from it. Curious that no one would have plans to bring the saga to either the small or big screens!?

I am curious, have you used any of this material in your own campaigns?

Personally I think Terror Worms would easily fit into our campaign, although I'll have to review that CR. Maybe 25 would be better...?

Just a quick observation, I loved the cover illustration showing the Black City, if you can find any others be sure to post the links.

Also what was the spear head that was flying past Perry Rhodan (?) made of? Wasn't Molkex was it!?

I'm guessing this would be German-centric!? Any news on the possible budget for the show (ie. will it be comparable to current sci-fi shows), or is the whole merely speculation at this stage?

Incidently mate, have you ever seen a manga anime show called Hellsing? One of the characters in that show is called sword-dancer. Great show by the way!

Sorry for the lack of reaction, but I'm having some trouble posting (and mailing) from the university

Regarding your questions:
- I don't know what the daggers on that cover are made of, but it is obviously something metallic, thus, Molkex wouldn't fit. And yes, the person is indeed Perry Rhodan.

Regarding the issue of the movies and series:
- There has already been a movie based on the first novel - but I deny it's existance! - Sadly, denial doesn't help .

- A fan movie has been in the works for some years now, and I doubt that it will ever see the light of day . This fan movie is hardly known to many fans, and I read about it in a magazine.

- A mini series is currently in the works, but the company creating it has given itself a bad reputation among fans with a bad Big Brother clone and a strange show based on japanese gameshows. Also, they apparently want to change the design of the spaceships - including the design of a well-described, unique spaceship, the SOL . This is the series that sword-dancer mentioned.

- There have been some rumours that an animated series could be made, but I don't know anything specific about it.

Regarding the converted material:
- I have not used anything in a campaign yet, as I am planning to start one some time this year. I would certainly use some things in it (such as the arkonids and baalol), but I'm less sure about the bridge - maybe it will be mentioned as an enigma, but initially it would not be part of the campaign. Since the deity informations are relatively complete in the neccessary regions, the PULSE and the deities in it would (propably) only come into play when the players reach other planes, so it does range at the lowest propability at the moment. But nothing is impossible, so they might hear about the Wanderer's avatar, Peregrin! Terror Worms are off limits until the players are at a higher level.

- The Terror Worms' CR - maybe I misunderstood your post on the old boards, as I thought that you wanted them to be CR 20 back then - but they are certainly better fitting CR 25. I had them originally at CR 22 or 23, if my memory serves me right.

- Do you have any comments on the other material I posted - especially the baalol that I had not posted on the old boards?

The lack of reaction has been disappointing considering the wealth of campaign material available.

WOW! The Halutans look amazing! and the Immortal! and the lovely arkonid lady! and the SOL spaceship! Just starting to go through the pictures now!

...and yes I will respond to the Baalol and Terror Worms and numerous other points over the coming days (including all the links ), I'm just slightly more busy than usual at the moment so bare with me!

Terror Worms CR

Hi all!

Regarding the Terror Worms CR I determined the following system for working out Dragon CR.

Essentially HD x3/4

eg. Great Wyrm Red Dragon (40HD) = 30

Then remember that every point of CR between 21 and 40 only counts as +1/2.

So 30 becomes CR25

The Terror Worms themselves are 40HD dragons, hence the revised CR notion.

For Magical Beasts challenge rating can be roughly attributed to HD x1/2

eg. Tarrasque (48HD) = 24
Then 24 becomes CR22

The above methods are merely a consistent base to work from rather than all-encompassing rules.

Hello, Upper_Krust and Sword-Dancer!

I was almost certain that the reason for the new CR were your guidelines for determining CR. By the way, I know that you also have guidelines for outsiders, but what about other creature types? (I'd say that monstrous humanoids and (maybe) aberrations are equivalent to magical beasts, while the rest is lower (may 1/3rd HD?))

I do think that overall, the Terror Worms are a bit weaker than the great wyrm red and silver dragons, but their strengths and weaknesses might even out.
