Sculpting Project Nomination Thread

No worries D'Karr. In fact, I'm a lurker on the sculpting list too. I am very intimidated by the level of skill exhibited by many of them. They are friendly though and many of them started much like we have, by painting and then modifying miniatures.

On topic: I want this to be fun, not stressful. Pogre and I agree on this most of all!

The deadline keeps those people who are working actively an end target. And those that aren't, well, you know.

The fact that Pogre is going to RTV mold and cast the mini's is just too cool for words.
Everyone needs to keep that in mind. You will get a metal miniature of all of the entries sent to Pogre.
(For example: Nyrfherdr, Pogre, D'Karr, Copperdragon, Dog Soldier, Phanboy, and Shape D all create a sculpt and mail it to Pogre. Pogre makes an RTV mold for each one and then casts 7 mini's from each mold. He boxes them up and with your Shipping fee, sends it to you. You get 1 of each sculpt.)

HOW COOL IS THAT?
With that in mind, here are some more ideas:

Village: You could do a well, barrels, boxes, barmaid, smith, anvil, village elder, village idiot, beggar, etc.

Swamp: A stump, A stump with a frog, a frog, a giant frog, a giant dire frog, a fiendish dire giant frog, a skeletal fiendish giant dire frog, etc. Or a snake, a crocodile, a lizardman, a bullywug, a shambling mound, a giant lizard, a hag, a witch, a witch hunter.

On the High Seas: You could sculpt Seahorse men, sahuagin, locothah, any shipboard equipment, a pirate, a sailor, a swashbuckler, a mermaid, any number of sea creatures

Game ON!

That reminds me of the Mage Knight miniatures. There were many variant names for the same sculpt with a different paint job... LOL

Grave yard could work.... I've got a few ideas...I just want to get the Theme posted so we can Get cracking!
Also...Would anyone mind if I posted an article on the WM boards, and Reaper Boards...There are a few Aspiring sculptors there who migh be interested!

What's the WM board? War Machine?

You're welcome to cross post at any board as far as I'm concerned.

I'll post a thread Monday to help us narrow down the theme. I think we'll have a theme by next weekend.

I had to join the site just because of this. I'm hanging out in the first list sculpting group to and am a hardtrying sculptor. I'd be very happy to participate in this little project.

I'd be willing to work with practically any theme so I won't weigh you down with further suggestions

Sounds like a great idea - may just inspire me to actually sculpt more then 'cosmetic changes' - would be very interested in the project. No new ideas for what to do though, sorry :(

Welcome Justin Kase! That's the idea - to get us all motivated to do some sculpting. Don't worry about ideas I think we have plenty to work with.

Thanks for the welcome!:p

I'm in. Gives me a chance and motovation to use that big tube of green stuff I have.

How about making golems, armored figures, and such. As scuplting faces scares me. :\

Don't be scared to sculpt faces. They're really not all that hard technically. The only problem is getting to know the basic structure of a face. A "Drawing the human face" book of some sort usually helps here.
Then try a big one before sculpting a miniature one.

Edit:
Picked an avatar. Believe it or not it was the one closest to resembling me, that's why I picked it :\
