Sealed Pages in Dragon--Contents inside!

Buttercup

Princess of Florin
Like it says.

The contents are no big deal. We have some spells with interesting names like Atrophy, Blood Siphon, Blood Blister, Bone Spurs, and my favorite, Wall of Maggots. Then we have some prestige classes such as The Faceless One, The Deep Thrall, and the Shoal Servant. (There are more spells and classes, but nothing shocking, perverted or even that interesting. Well, except for the maggot wall. :D )

So for those of you who were worried, you can stop. It was just a marketing ploy.

You can not go wrong with maggots.

Well, you know, that's what I was thinking. I'm just loving the idea of one of my players stepping on a trap that erupts into a seething, writhing wall of nasty, squishy, pale, puffy maggots! If I do a good enough job with the description, I figure that the bard will hurl. :p

Salutations,

I had a player who was grossed out by maggots- and made the mistake of telling me.

So, the next main villian was a lich comprised of maggots.

I am also tossing around the idea of a flood of maggots travelling across the land- eating everything in.. err.. feel.

Furn, have you picked up a copy of the ELH yet?

One of the templates in the book is pretty much that exact same thing. A lich made up of worms and maggots. (IIRC it was called the Wormkin or something.)

I picked it up with the buy.com special, but never intend to before that- so I have only flipped through it.

Thanks for the tip- I will go check it out.

So, basically, they tried to be gross and did an okay job of it. And then they called it adult content and sealed the section. Nothing an 8-year old would be surprised at, and certainly nothing that my players would find unusual in one of my more ick-oriented story threads.

Ah well, that's why they gave Ravenloft to someone else, yes?

Things you can do with maggots...

1. From ELH: Creature: Wormkin. Lich with maggot body instead of mummy body. No more need be said.

2. From Dragon: Spell: Wall o' Maggots. Easier to punch through than Wall of Iron, but ewwwwww. Memo to Self: Look up disease rules for gutsy characters.

3. Creature: Giant Carnivorous Maggot. About the size of your finger, necrotic poison (rots flesh), tries to burrow inside and nest, then lay eggs.

4. Creature: Parachuting maggots. Silk streamer used to fly in a manner similar to some spiders. Can smell rotting meat a mile away and land to breed in it.

5. Spell: Rain of Maggots. Like meteor swarm, but keep your mouth covered.

6. Item: Maggot Cloak. A special, flesh-gray cloak which allows you to squeeze through small openings, live on rotting meat, bite for 2d4 damage, and summon a maggoty swarm of vermin 1/day. Slight side effect: odor.

7. Spell: Maggot Mount. A horse sized maggot that can burrow at a move of 10 feet. As long as you duck and cling tight, it can carry you through the earth. 2d4 bite, STR 24.

8. Spell: Maggoty Finger of Death. Like Finger of Death, but creatures affected are consumed from within by maggots.

9. Spell: Maggotskin. Your skin is flesh-gray or grayish-pink, and slimy. You get +2 AC against bludgeoning weapons.

10. Spell: Maggoty Retching. Target begins vomitting up maggots, violently. Similar in effect to Tasha's Hideous Uncontrollable Laughter, only a lot grosser.
