[Serenity RPG] Across the 'Verse: Introductions

Paula's eyes narrow slightly, and Tatjana has the distinct impression that the madame has made the same judgement about her. She shifts her stance to get both Tatjana and Aaron in her view. The gun don't move.

"Merk, take our boy there's iron." Merk looks caught between a need to obey and a need to not get shot or kicked - he don't move. Paula continues, ignoring the big man's stalling. "You comin', girl? Don't want jie* to worry - I'll jus tell'er you got a better offer and said 'so long."


The girl springs to life at this - "No! Wo lai le! Lai le!"** sobbing as she says it, and pulling herself to he feet.

"How 'bout this? I holster this fine pistol of mine. And you let Xiao Feng get behind my friend here, and we all walk out of this still breathing? Don't worry girl you don't need to be afraid anymore, my friend over there will keep you safe. Just start movin' slowly, alright?" He looks back at Paula, "Trust me that's the best deal you gonna get out of this mess, Paula."

Aaron slowly holsters his gun, and moves his hands slightly away fom his body.

Paula nods warily, begins backing towards the street corner (and cover), her gun ready and still pointing at the girl.

Merk stoops to haul the other goon to his feet, and he starts hustling them off in the same direction; neither is looking back

Xiao Feng, wide-eyed and wailing, moves to chase after Paula, crossing in front of Tatjana on her way.

 

[Thondor]

Slick takes a few steps towards the girl and says,
"You'd really be better of with us, Xiao Feng, but your free to go where you like, far as I'm concerned." He gives Tatjana a 'do something' look.

He pulls a cigar from his pocket and stikes a match against a wall. He thinks 'That went remarkably well. 'Course, it didn't exactly earn me any friends.'

 

[Thanee]

Tatjana

“Well, it's her decision, ultimately. I won't force her away, if she doesn't want to. I guess she has taken her choice then.”

Tatjana stays there for a moment, watching them leave, before turning to the guy.

“Thanks for the help! Not many willing to take such a risk on behalf of someone else.”

 

[Thondor]

Well . . . I guess i'm going to assume the girl left. If not we could do a small ret-con.

The short, dark-haired twenty something man draws hard on the cigar and lets out a long breath, "Not the sort of thing I usually do, kinda surprised myself to be honest." He looks around, "I don't think we should be stickin around here, or we might be gettin the kind of attention we don't want. Walk with me?"

Aaron starts heading through a maze of streets, "Name's Aaron Craig, most folk call me Slick. I'm a pilot, mostly. And you? What are you doing on this rock? Other than trying to save little girls?"

Tatjana

“I guess you are right... I'm Tatjana. Not doing a whole lot here, currently. Mostly travelling around and seeing new places and such. So, you're a pilot then? You also got a ship? Might need a ship eventually to get off this rock here.”

As you talk, watching the girl struggle down the street after her tormenter, Xiao Feng looks back at the two of you with thanks and fear on her face, but quickly turns back redoubles her efforts to catch up. Paula turns her head just enough to notice she's following, and a dismissive smirk flickers across her face just as she disappears around a corner.

Tatjana, Alertness+Streetwise = 6, nothing out of the ordinary noticed against average difficulty. [sblock=If Tatjana chooses to spend a plot point only Xiao Feng doesn't want to go with Paula, but is afraid for someone else if she doesn't [/sblock]
Aaron, Alertness+Perception+Friends in Low Places bonus = 14, Edit - guess that would just be a success at Hard difficulty in this case, not extraordinary success at Average.
[Sblock=Aaron] Paula was in an impotent rage when she started to slink away - knowing her reputation, someone was bound to be the target of that rage later tonight. Xiao Feng saw that look too, or maybe simply was experienced enough with Paula to know what her response would be, and you think girl's trying to protect someone from that rage. [/sblock][/sblock]

 

[Thondor]

"I'm between ships at the moment. Piloted whats now a piece of scrap into town for a client little over a month ago. Waste of a ship if you ask me. Was supposed to get picked up about a week ago, but they havn't docked yet."

Aaron's tone changes as they are clearly out of ear shot, the route he's taking is roughly paralleling where he guesses there heading, "Now Paula has some sort of hold over that girl. Probably a friend or relative she can leverage Xiao Feng with, from what she said. And she ain't the type to lie back and nurse tha' wound after she's been crossed. Someone's going to get hurt tonight. Question is, do you want to do anything about it?"

He pauses, "You didn't have much of a plan when you interfered did you?"

Tatjana

“Yeah, you are right. It was a bit impulsive, wasn't it? But on the other hand, I couldn't just sit there and watch them beat the girl up, right? Paula did mention jie, which certainly caused quite a reaction from the girl. A very good friend, or her actual sister even. Must be the reason, why she is so submissive. Of course, she is pretty young, too. Brave girl. Not much, she can do, though. So, you in this? I would go and get both of them out. Could definitely need the help there, I guess. Who knows what this woman will do to them.”
