SG1: An Old Friend (Wik Judging)

Shrugging, the Wizard chides, 'Working together would no doubt yield better results than working at odds. Still, I would hope you realize that we've been nothing but forthcoming and collaborative in this effort. That said, you wish results, which is also understandable.'

Beckoning to the Kobold, Genithar explains, 'Approach our gnomish friend, he will be able to show you the documents....*cough*!! *cough*!!

Breaking into a fit of coughing, the Wizard almost doubles over as he clutches Corran's shoulder for support. Clearing his throat, he then mumbles something indecipherable.

[Sblock=Message Spell to Balnibar]

Disappointed that he will not be able to get the humunculi aid, Mathew reaches down and grabs the notes from Balnibar. He holds them in his hand and when kolbold approaches hands them over.

Stiffening as Mathew grabs the book from Balnibar, Genithar hisses in elvish

[sblock=elven]
do NOT let go of the book! open the page and let him read, not touch!

The kobold takes a moment to examine the document. For a moment, its eyes glow a reddish-purple. Genithar is caught of guard, almost missing the tell-tale signs of a detect magic incantation---but one without words or gesture.

The kobold nods, then hands the book back to mystified Mathew. It walks over the brute, who looms over it large. However, there is distinct impression that the kobold is the greater creature.

"I was hired to extract the information about Xen'drik-based aberrant dragonmarks from Master Thunderbanner. As that is not possible, my contract with you is terminated."

"WHAT!!!"
The brute, faster than one would thought possible, draws his greatsword and has it at the kobold's neck. The kobold glances at it impassively, then at the brute with more force. With a glitter in its eyes that makes Genithar shiver, the kobold forces the man to take a step back.

"I said our business is terminated. Your information was incorrect. Master Thunderbanner cannot assist you. Perhaps Professor Koldoran could provide you with information, but that is beyond the scope of our dealings. Good day."

The stunned thugs do nothing as the kobold makes for the back door. The heavy guarding it scampers to the side. In a moment, the kobold is gone.

Heavy air hangs in the room.

[Actions?]

Mathew quickly takes the book away from the kobold, and then hoping to catch them before the intitial sting wears off. Mathew quickly says "I know you all have suffered and have many questions. If I were you I would follow him and try to hire him to help, although I think a less violent method is probably wise. At any rate we can not help you."

Lorth stands stunned at all the events unfolding faster than he has a chance to even think about them. Things were easier at the monestary.

[sblock=OOC] I wasn't online last night. Good work guys.[/sblock]

Genithar, his dark robe wrinkled and flecked with blood, barely keeping upright, still leaning heavily on Corran, hunched to keep pressure off his broken bones, lifts his slight head resolutely and stares directly at the aberrant's leader.

Gaze fixed for a moment, the Wizard speaks not threat or encouragement, says nothing at all, only raising a narrow, blond eye brow at a perfect 45degree angle, questioningly.

Turning his back, he staggers to Mathew, attempting to use the trainrail thin true mark in the long gray robe, the bull of Cannith upon the back, as his new arm to lean on.

Beneath his robe, the elf slowly moves his hand to his dagger.

ooc;if hostilities break out, G will attempt to fling his dagger at the rogue behind us. Sleight of hand roll, i guess? PS; dudes, we're rounding third, let's take it home. Awesome scene, everybody.

The air is tense. The other toughs look at each other. "He's got a point..." the rogue behind you says. "But they've seen our faces!" blurts one of the heavies.

"ENOUGH! Kill them. No witnesses!"

[Opposed Diplomacy/Intimidate checks]

The rogue behind the group shakes his head. "Screw this! Dorian said we be after the prize. No prize, no reason t'die!"

The one that brought the scroll shrugs. "Hey, I just be getting this scroll. Dorian didn't say I had to get my hands dirty."

The thug guarding the door says, "Look at 'em! Almost dead!" The other nods. "No witnesses!"

Violence was inevitable.
