Shadow Government Ordered After Attacks, Post Says
Reuters Mar 1 2002 1:42AM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush has set up a "shadow government" to ensure that the government would continue to operate in the event of catastrophic attack on the U.S. capital, The Washington Post reported on Friday.

With new d20 Modern rules coming from all angles, this is just too interesting to ignore.

I was thinking the same thing. This is why I steal a lot of ideas from the news for my games.

Did you see the one about the DOOMSDAY CLOCK moving up 2 minutes.

Who sang that song with the line "Paranoia will destroy ya"?

No offense to all our great American boardmembers, but the U.S. government has some serious issues... Bush is definately living up to his "cowboy" image that was expected when he became pres. sheesh.

Speaking of current affairs used in games, and for the benefit of any New Zealanders on the boards, I had a Rolemaster Black Ops party tasked to gain the proof that the fire-blight found in the Melbourne Botanical Gardens a few years ago was intentionally sent into our country by the NZ government in an attempt to damage our apple exports.

You can gain some very interesting ideas from the most unlikely sources.

BTW, the party was quite frustrated by the fact that they couldn't shoot anybody, operating in a friendly country and all.

noooiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-ya!
Paranoia!
Ain't it grand to see that good time face again?
Paranoia!
Boy oh boy, yer
Just a bit of you-know-what from way back when!
Even Goya
Couldn't draw ya
Not the way you looked just-a bustin' in the door
Call a lawyer
Paranoia
Let me will my ass to you forevermore!!!

(Thomas Pynchon, Gravity's Rainbow)

Harvey Danger had a song that had the lyrics:

"Paranoia paranoia
Everybody's coming to get me.
I've been around the world and found
That only stupid people are breeding ..."

And as someone once told me about Paranoia ...

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean you are wrong:
If the government has no knowledge of aliens, then why does Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal Regulations, implemented on July 16th, 1969, make it illegal for U.S. citizens to have contact with extraterrestrials or their vehicles?

And what is the Doomsday Clock?

The media feeds the hysteria, and while I'm all for my First Amendment right to free speech...you have to draw a line somewhere. However, the idea of a shadow government is a cool idea for a game.

Argh, does anyone know the official release date of Spycraft?

A group of professors at the University of Chicago (coincidently where I work) created a clock when the atom bomb was developed. It is typically at seven minutes to midnight all the time. But they moved it closer to midnight as they fear the threat of nuclear war looms closer.

They just recently moved it closer to midnight. Midnight, of course, is armageddon.
