Then you're blind, and the shadowdancer automatically hides - as does the cleric in plate mail standing next to him.

And yet the Shadowdancer can't HiPS, as there are no shadows when you can't see them......Patryn of Elvenshae said:Then you're blind, and the shadowdancer automatically hides - as does the cleric in plate mail standing next to him.![]()
I'm pretty sure a one-liner is required here.....Hosweay said:Man, it would be awful to be an elf. You'd be hot all the time.
Nail said:BTW, are you implying, Patryn, that being blind is identical to having all of your enemies hidden?
SRD said:Blinded: The character cannot see. He takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class, loses his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any), moves at half speed, and takes a –4 penalty on Search checks and on most Strength- and Dexterity-based skill checks. All checks and activities that rely on vision (such as reading and Spot checks) automatically fail. All opponents are considered to have total concealment (50% miss chance) to the blinded character. Characters who remain blinded for a long time grow accustomed to these drawbacks and can overcome some of them.

Aren't those the same thing? I'm thinking that it is for game terms. How else would you think about it?To the point: HiPS works with a shadow. It does not require shadowy illumination.
