Shadowdark Shadowdark General Thread [+]

Necromancer looks really cool too actually. Not just a 'Undead Wizard'.
The livesteam of her designing it was really interesting. You could see the fans in the chat expecting a Diablo Necromancer and then having to come to terms that Kelsey had something very different -- and very cool -- in mind. I probably would have called it a Psychopomp, myself, just to properly set expectations, but it definitely is a kind of necromancer I'd want to try in Shadowdark.

The first time a party's torch goes out mid-battle is a magical moment.

It might happen again if an enemy attacks the light, but the players will be adamant about keeping an eye on the clock from then on out and making every second count, as well as making sure they have enough torches to get back to the surface alive.

It's not quite Darkest Dungeon levels of watching supplies, but it's amazing -- after decades -- to make that a core part of a game without it feeling like Dungeons & Accountants.
Besides everything else being great, that is my favorite part of Shadowdark. Darkness is dreadful, light vital, and resources matter. But in an easy to use way. Here’s a timer. Go.

Attack the light. Hmm. Tasty tasty referee advice.

So, post gym thoughts.

Monk - Very much like this. Eye of Yag-Kesh has Kelsey coming in from the top rope with elegant writing and bashing me over the head.

Archer - Its fine, but I'm neither a fan of Archers really for my own use, or how much of the 'budget' seems tied up in the Mount feature.

Green Knight - So much budget in the spells it feels like, and the Spells Known is so limited? I am not feeling this.

EDIT: As a reminder, Druid Spells/List are in Cursed Scroll 4 preview, from the Kickstarter.

Necro - Gut feel is its cool, different, and will certainly take some more reading to get a feel. Its way more content than 'a class' it looks like. Spells, Mishaps, the Gates, 'Death' as a location and an encounter table? Awesome.

Yeah, you can tell which of these she was really excited about.

It's weird because the Paladin has quite a bit going for it AND the mount.

Meanwhile the Green Knight? I don't know, the Caster tax I guess, feels kind of bad.

The Desert Rider by memory was also pretty limited outside of the mount. Meanwhile the Necro has I think as many pages as my Psion currently.

Disjointed? I don't know, my shoulders killing me I'm having trouble remember the details on other classes till I get home.
