Shadowdark Shadowdark General Thread [+]

I'm just glad I'm not a completionist collector. Man, that would get expensive quick.

It feels like a firehose, but I'm glad for it. There's so much content that I can pick and choose what I want to look at, read, and eventually use. I'd much rather than than the opposite. A single core book with no support from anyone, even the publisher. I'm just glad I'm not a completionist collector. Man, that would get expensive quick.
I go through spurts where I find myself buying or backing more than I really need and then end up scaling back considerably on what I buy for awhile. I am currently in a “stop buying so much stuff you probably won’t use” phase so I don’t plan to back their current Kickstarter, but agree, it’s nice to see more options available. Shadowdark seems to be in a pretty good place right now.

I mean I've got all the official stuff, and a smattering of 3rd party, but I really cannot go all in on everything right now 3rd party, its just too much.

I am curious about that Deathbringer thing, but I dont watch youtube...

From the video it'll take Shadowdark in a more pulpy direction. Level cap increases to 20th level. New classes, spells, and monsters. Deathbringer dice that add a bit more pulp adventure to the mix, it's a resource you can spend to increase or decease a d20 roll or damage. And there will be talents locked behind death. You can die up to three times before you're permanently dead. Each death gets you access to new talents. This is specifically to get players to engage with the pulp adventure rather than cower.

Definitely not everyone's cup of tea. But it sounds at least a bit interesting.

Cool. I think it's interesting we are getting these expansions but as far as the core book goes it solves for me so well.

I mean Cursed Scroll 4 doesn't add a ton mechanical but man do I ever want to run/play it.

I'm just such a fan of the base game.

Just the 3 Books is ~= $200 Canadian, and then there is Righteous Vow 3...too much to buy! :D
Jesus, that's waaaay more than I'd spend on this kinf of product. It's also less than I spent on the full ride SD KS, so there's that. I'm pretty sure I don;t care more about that content than I so the new official stuff. Everyone wants to make rent though, I suppose.

Yeah, most of it is not for me, but it's fantastic to be in a position to pick and choose from all the stuff available.
