Sick of my old crap laying around, what to do with it?

This is a bit of a rant too...Last night I finally got fed up with all of my old D&D crap laying around. I pulled 2E "Giantcraft" out of a box to read-through possibly for my Norse campaign and promptly threw it in the TRASH! (I should never have bought it, holy crap is it absolute CRAP!). I've given away much of my boxes of old scenarios and supplement and typical garbage that TSR rushed out with 1E and 2E, but there's got to be a better place to ditch it.

I really can't use any of it. I can't believe how much crap-product TSR put out! My wife asked me, "what do you do with this stuff?" I didn't know what to say, because I can't even stand up for 90% of the junk that I blew my student loans on. Paladin in Hell, THieves Guild, Dracomonicon, Temple/tower/tomb, Castle Amber, Horde, Scenarios, Lankhmar!!! Oh my god! JUNK, JUNK, JUNK! What was I thinking??? And let's not even talk about 3.0 class guidebooks...

I think the only thing worth saving is my 1E scenarios, playtest copies of 3.0, DUNGEON..oh, and the Gazetteers for D&D (and they're questionable).

I've never sold anything on EBAY. Is it hard? Should I just take the rest to local bookstore and dump it there? I presume it will become more and more worthless as the days go by. I've got one of those fireplaces out back. I'm thinking of cutting out the artwork (whereever cheap-ass TSR didn't put the same stuff in supplement after supplement and burning the whole lot!)

What are YOUR plans with your old junk? Are you hoping that someday D&D will make a miraculous recovery and it will be worth millions?

Ack! One person's trash...another person's treasure!

You could give it away to your fellow enworlders. Please give it away or sell it or something rather than throwing it away or worse, burning it. Please, please, please.

What I have done in years past is donate it to the local conventions for auction at BENCON. I think the year that I donated all of my DRAGON magazines the auction lasted another hour ;) I've saved DRAGON's 250+ (since I have the CD covering the rest). If there was a CD of the issues since then I could dump the rest on the market. I like having access just for sentimental value, but that's about all the value there is anymore. There was a mix of crunch and fluff that made most of it useless. I wonder if TACTICON will have an auction this year?

I've given away parts to new players too. I used to go to the local game store and dump stuff on kids who looked like they were going to get into D&D. That's how I got rid of a couple 3.0 PHB's and some old scenarios. I hope they had fun with them..they probably went into the trash too..or the quality was so bad that the kids decided that handling fireworks was more fun.

Crunch stuff is so useless in later editions. Hence my comment about 3.0 class guidebooks :)

If any of this stuff is to be useful in the future, the crunch has to be seriously seperated from the fluff.

Disgusted at the money I wasted..although I do 'smell' them sometimes..my wife thinks I'm wierd...some of the stuff, I still use and really enjoy..it must be enough to keep me playing :)

Gotta plug Noble Knight Games. They give a very fair trade value, and are darned nice people to boot. I've been trading 3.x stuff for minis and old school books, and find it's worthwhile.

I have a different attitude towards this material, and would love to have it. I would especially love any 3.0 items you wish to discard.

However, you *can* sell on ebay, and you can make money thereof. There is no reason you should short yourself: see what you can do on ebay.

I relunctantly sold a lot of my 3.0 stuff to pay rent. I had most of my Dragon magazines stolen.

If you plan on giving any of this stuff away, let me know.

Post it in the market places forum and sell it on here. All you need is a paypal account and the ability to mail stuff out. If mailing to too many people is a hastle, just sell them of in bundles. You can recover some money and maybe surprise your wife with "here is a slice of pizza from all those books yu think are worthless! Pfa"

I'll probably be at Tacticon with a stack if I can get away from the family. Grab me at one of the LG tables. My name's Jay Hafner.

You should really just post a list of stuff you have and don't want, and then let people contact you for what they want. Sent up a PayPal account so people can throw you like $5 for shipping.
