Hmm... I picked up. I think it looks better than 3e or 3.5.

Not good enough to tempt me to change, though. I still feel like I'm not done with 3e, let alone 3.5. The only thing I don't like about 4e is the timing; I personally am not yet ready for it nor do I see a need in my own gaming group for it.

Thumbs up, though I'm not without a few reservations.

I really like per encounter abilities, wizard implements, & different specializations for fighters. I like Reflex as part of AC (if it does in fact work that way in 4e) so that armor can have a Reflex penalty & become more of a tradeoff (raise net AC, but lower Reflex). I also like some of the skills mergers, though I'll have to see how the untrained/trained/focus thing plays out if it also comes over from SAGA.

I don't like bard not being in PHB1, & I'd actually like monk there as well. I don't recall any wizards slinging fireballs in RW history, so the 'mixing cultures' thing has no meaning for me; we're gaming in D&D culture anyway, not RenLarp.

I really truly hate static saves for PCs. I like rolling my own saves (it gives me a sense of tension & excitement) & a single save vs. an AE spell truly bites IMNSHO (oh great, our wizard rolled low - 1 fireball wasted; alternatively, the dragon rolled high & now the entire party is half dead).

As a friend of mine describes it, I am "conditionally optimistic." I won't make a decision on if its the system of choice for my games until I see the actual rules, but in general, I like what I have seen, for the most part.

With Regards,
Flynn

Where's one thumb up, one down? I voted up because on balance I still want to see it, but my reservations grow daily. Still, until I see it, I reserve final judgment.

Still thumbs down, but I will admit that the Monsters, Monsters, Monsters podcast excited me a bit, if only b/c I have felt the monsters should "rebuilt" for a long time now.

A big thumbs up. I like what I've heard for the mechanics and I really, really like hearing that the game will be easier to prepare. Less work, more play!

Still undecided, but leaning towards thumbs down. I don't like how they're eliminating first level play especially. Action points just seem like cheating to me. I like at least having the option of save or die spells. And I definitely don't like the idea of giving spells to fighters and rogues.
That said, I still don't know what kind of animal 4.0 is gunna look like when all's said and done. So I'm undecided but skeptical.
