World building is an elaborate affair, and can get in the way of the storytelling if you keep having to stop to explain how something works. If you have a pre-made world to put your story in, why reinvent the wheel?

On the other hand, burning the whole thing down and scratchbuilding a new science fantasy universe might be the only way to deal with Star Wars' toxic fans.

I think the story telling is the most important part and the world building should be only when the story requires it. Even Star Wars did this.

Or, maybe, they're expanding on the Star Wars brand so it isn't tied solely to the Skywalker saga. I, for one, am very much looking forward to this. It doesn't look to me like it's going to be shoe-horned at all.
I know what they’re doing. They’ve been doing that for awhile now. Some work, some don’t. I’m just saying this one, based on the trailer, looks like it could’ve been a standalone. A new thing.

So you could either give a long info dump about what Old Republic credits are, or you could use a setting where everyone knows.

Nah. Who cares what Old Republic credits are or whatever analog they have. If it’s important to the plot, it won’t matter, it’ll be relevant to the story first.

There was a Han Solo book about a treasure hunt this made me wonder if they using that as a guide to what they're doing.
I agree there's something seriously off with their homeworld possibly its a link to the First Order and Hux's attempts to breed a new generation of Imperials.
Is that boy going to grow up to become Finn?

Famous Five was a children's TV series, Channel Four did a comic take on them when that channel first started.
Otherwise they're a book series don't know about the Treasure Seekers though.
The Story of the Treasure Seekers by Edith Nesbit, 1899. The Famous Five, Enid Blyton 1942. Both spawned sequels and have been adapted for TV many times.

Han Solo and the Lost Legacy by Brian Daley? Good stuff, but I don’t think so. There was a TCW arc that pitted Jedi younglings against pirates.

Character names are a bit lacking, but according to IMDb one of the girls is called FB. So if not actually Finn, they have the same backstory.
