Barbarians Don't Need Armor

All you need is a nice weapon that you can hold in two hands and get 1.5 your str bonus and 2x BAB (power attack for your full BAB). Combined with Great Cleave and all your enemies in base to base are deceased.

With DR for being a high level barbarian and lots of hit points, you should be fine. Especially against the classic horde of low level opponents.

Legend
Slaine has serious DR during warp spasms (in the comic). When not Warping he can only kill a few dozen enemies at a time, rather than the 400 or so he manages in Warp. Generally he does this by spring attacking and Great Cleaving everyone before they get a blow in. He still takes damage though.

Conan in the books wears armour like any sensible warrior, typically a chain shirt, very efficient with DEX 18. Conan in the books doesn't kill hundreds at a time. If you want near-naked Conan atop a hill of corpses as in the portraits I suggest bracers of armour.

Celtic comic book character. Mongoose made the comic into a d20 rpg.

Actually the original Axe Weilding Celtic hero Slaine character appeared in the 2000AD comics about 20+ years ago as a continuing story line. In case those of you don't know 2000AD was a UK based comic that created the Judge Dredd character and Rogue Soldier to name some other popular characters.

To get back on topic. I would have to say Barbarian/Foresaker(WoTC:Masters of the Wild) as that is the only Prestige class that gives you good stat increases and good DR. So you could get away with a big axe and a loin cloth and still kick butt with out taking too much damage because of your higher stats and cool DR rating. Cheers :D
