From someone who's behind a few episodes (just watched the super-jump ep):

Maybe Martha's baby has a phisyology slightly altered by the ship, and gets strong and fast like Clark did when he grew up.

Maybe it's a girl.

Maybe she's blonde, like Pa Kent.

Maybe, in 15 years, when Clark is 31-32 and fully Supermannized, she'll start playing with her newfound abilities.

And maybe her name will be Kara.

Supergirl, anyone? :D

My wife and I tend to subscribe to this theory as well :D

anyway this episode has got to NZ yet so what was Superman- I mean Christopher Reeves role is this episode?
He is a brillant reclusive scientist who is able to tell Clark something about where he is from. The rest I leave for you to enjoy. Seriously. It's worth the wait. :D

Oh man, that was a great ep. I had never thought of how Clark might view being sent away. I know people when they find out they're adopted, wonder why their parents sent them away, but it never occurred to me the scope of that in Clark's case. I felt really bad for him. I am more impressed with that kid all the time. When the movie theme played, I turned to my SO while pointing at the TV and going "Ba, ba, ba, did you hear that?!?" Chills ran up and down my spine. I really enjoy the show, but this was only the second or third time where I marked for Clark like that. And I never thought that John Schneider (sp?) could act either. Guess I was wrong. 9/10 easy.

I did that exact thing, too. I just wasn't going to admit it until someone else did. :P

And, I was too big a fan of DoH as a kid to really want to knock John Schneider, but I am impressed with his portrayal of this role every week. Even if this Johnathan Kent is a self-rightious ass, he's a well-acted self-rightious ass. :)

Have any anime fans here noticed how the plot here seems a lot like Dragon Ball Z? Clark is of course Goku.

My roommate and I got into this discussion when we were thinking about how they could bring in the other supermans onto this series. Dean Cain (from Lois & Clark), we decided would play one of the evil kryptonians who survived the destruction. So he's, like, Vegeta.

And Pete would be Krillin.

Actually the original Brainiac was a circus hypnotist that was taken over by an alien entity.
Vril Dox.
This entity happened to be the ancestor of Brainiac 5 of the Legion of Superheroes.
And the "father" of Vril Dox II, the founder of L.E.G.I.O.N.

Brainiac was an mad uberscientist from outer space that tried to
project his mind (copy) into a clone (which was Vril Dox II) as he was killed. It failed and his conciousness roamed the cosmos for decades until he was able to take over the mind of the psychic circus performer 'Brainiac'.

You know, I'm awful glad I thought to put in the "from what I know of...". 'Cause obviously that isn't much. I must have been confusing Braniac with the Eradicator mentioned above, or saw some comic in which they were munged together in some way. *shrug*. I should have known better than to wade in on DC Comics Mythos. I should stick with 1980's Marvel, where I actually have a clue :(

How many more shows until the end of the season?

Was very pleased with this one, lots in interesting thoughts. Will have to watch it again Sunday.
