That episode was amazing. I cannot believe how much they crammed into it. I am really looking forward to the next season now. I am not sure who will be in that ship, although it could be either Braniac or General Zod. It would be awesome to see either of them in the show.

I, also, loved the interplay between Clark and Lois in this one. And Lois dream rocked! Definitely, the greatest episode of the season.

Oh! Lex has finally fallen into evil. He is no longer on the edge.

I hope we get to see the Fortress of Solitude next season.

As for Tom Welling showing his age...well, Superman did come out of hiding at around 27-30 yrs old, right?

*is betting Zod*

Brainiac is a little...too much at the moment.

Reasonable sure when Smallville returns, we'll see:

The Fortress

Lex going deeper into obsession and thus evil

Lois finally deciding to get on with her life

Lana finding out Clark's secret.

I didn't notice Welling looking any older, but I tend not to notice things like that.

My first thought when I saw the new ship was Doomsday. My next thought was the Eradicator. But Brainiac is just as good a guess as any.

I don't think Lex and Chloe went anywhere in the beam of light, they were just obscured by it.

In all, I loved this episode, and the Batman trailer that followed. The only thing I didn't like about Christian Bale is his Batman voice. After Kevin Conroy, noone can do a good Bruce/Batman transition anymore.

Tauric,

Agreed. Conroy is the best Batman VA PERIOD.

Bale's voice was pretty bad but I can at least excuse that fact that a) he's new (Bruce not Bale.) and b) If he talked regularly people might guess he's Bruce. :p

Other than that and the fact I'm pretty sure it's none of the above in the ones you mentioned, Smallville rocked the house.

After a few seconds of deliberation, I realized that Eradicator was probably too obscure of a reference, but the backstory of the Eradicator does kinda fit, what with the whole purity of Krypton thing that could tie in with Jor-el talking about human blood on the element. Still, I think it would be cool if it were the Eradicator.

Brainiac wasn't one of my considerations because, yeah, he's from space, but this ship seems pretty clearly Kryptonian.

I like Doomsday for the same reasons I like Eradicator: Kryptonian origin and a mad-on for Kal-el.

I don't think Zod would come in a ship like that. It's too three-D.

Of course, it could be something completely (sp?) new.

There's always the Superman: TAS route of making Brainiac Kryptonian in origin. I think out of our likely candidates (Zod, Brainiac, Eradicator, and Doomsday) Brainiac has the advantage of being the most likely to be a good match for Kal at this point in his life (as well as being dramatically appropriate). You can bet that if they were to use Zod or Doomsday, that the conflict could only be properly done justice against a fully-powered Kal with a big red "S" on his chest. :)

Eradicator could also fill the same criteria, but I'd imagine that given Brainiac's use in TAS, he's a bit better known by non-comics junkies. Or maybe we'll just get the real Kara Zor-El. Either way, we have months before we find out.

Good point Roche.

(Although I'd love to see a new Kara meself. The last one was pretty decent, even it was a fake. :) )
