Smallville 5-19-05 Season Finale (Spoilers)

What a great season finale! I can't wait for the next season. Let's get that fortress of solitude thing going!

As for the new villain come to Earth, my money is Brainiac.

Anyway, loved the Batman Begins trailer. At first, I thought the ninja thing seemed a little over the top, but the more I think about it, the more I think it fits perfectly with Batman. I also really liked Liam Neeson in the preview.

My favorite part was when he was telling Bruce, "You are not responsible for your parent's death. Your father is."

Thats some powerful stuff. Based on what I have seen in previews, I think I'm going to rate this movie as one of the best comic book movies of all time, and even better than the original Batman.

Smallville was sweet. The main thing I'm wondering is how Clark plans to get out of Antartica? Dare I say he may fly? DUNH DUNH DUNH!

As for the Batman preview...Well I really like how they're going into the ethics of Batman and WHY he chose to don the ruber Suit...Also the fact that they're really going in depth on the background of his training. I don't think the ninjas are too much...As I recall isn't that how he was trained in the comic, as well?

His voice...Well It sounds like they modified it electronically...It's weird...but I don't have a problem with it...

The ONLY gripe I have is that when Bale was just walking around in the suit, it didn't seem right...like it was too rigid. But I'm sure my opinion will change when I see the film.

One thing worth mentioning is that some of the "rules" for the Smallville series is "no kryptonians" (just like "no tights" and "no flying"). So I'm thinking General Zod is out, as well as the "real" Kara coming out of the big, black home-plate shaped thing. (Which reminded me of the spaceship Scully found on the african beach in X-files.)

It's been sooooo long since I've actually read a Supes comic, someone refresh my memory - what's Brainac's origin?

I think that depends upon which continuity you're talking about.

In at least one, iirc, Braniac is a humanoid robot that used to be, in effect, a Kryptonian defense computer.

The new ship comes down in response to the sullying of the artifact, right. And Jor El keeps claiming that the artifact has knowledge man is not meant to have. Who better to deal with a data-leak than a computer?

While the Eradicator is a good candidate for being the passenger on that ship, what about the speculation that the voice and accompanying tech in the cave is really the Eradicator? The attitude of inherent superiority over humans is fairly similar to the version in the comics.

You know, after watching the Batman Begins preview I was wondering something. What's going to happen come season finale time next year? Superman Returns next summer. Are we going to see any continuity between series and movie? It might be interesting if say the ship holds some Phantom Zone prison planes which would lead to a semi-retcon/unofficial continuity between the series and the movies both original and new.

It has already been said that there is an event in next season of Smallville that will have an effect during Superman Returns.

Wow...

Now THAT will be interesting to see.

Okay if the No Kryptonians thing still stands that does leave Zod out. (Though I would point out the SHAPE of the craft is consistent with the shape of the portal into the Phantom Zone in the original Superman movies.)

Kara is probably out but doesn't mean she couldn't have a different origin. Just saying

I honestly don't see Brainaic ALTHOUGH there still is that doctor (name eludes me. The actor that played him, he was on the First Wave as Crazy Ed.) could be "altered" into the new verison of Brainac.

The Eradicator...just doesn't ring right to me. But I could be wrong.

In any case next season we'll get some answers.

I missed a few episodes this season, though I certainly saw (end of last season?) where Lionel and Clark switch bodies.

I don't understand, though, why Kryptonian symbols were shown wheeling through Lionel's mind/eye. What's the deal there?

That probably had something to do with him being a human and having one of the three stones on him when Clark put the second stone in it's place. It looked as if the cave was calling out to the third stone and did something to Lionel when that "call" reach him with the stone.

I'm pretty sure the Kryptonian symbols, though, were after Clark had already put it together. I mean, yeah, I'm sure it does have something to do with the light that nailed Lionel. I just thought that there must be somethng y'all knew about it specifically, since no one had mentioned it.
