Smallville Preimere: Season 6--9/28/06

I never found the angst really that bad. I might be because I watched Buffy and that angst was a lot more.
I'd rather angst than the sappy, syrupy, force-fed romance between Clark and Lana in Season 2 any day of the week and twice on Thursdays.

To borrow from Kurtz's dad...

"You know what that boy needs? A size 9 boot in the rear."

Yeah... that's because you're desensitized.

No, it was the show was just so episodic. In one epsiode there was angst but in the next, it was like they were freidns again. It was just inconsistant on that level.

It's not like Clark has ever had to finesse a fight at all. The closest thing he's got going for "skills with fighting" should be "pretending that a punch really hurt so I don't end up in a test tube."

If Clark weren't so...super, he'd really be a lame sort of combatant. He should take up shooting as a hobby, because he could probably get away with being REALLY GOOD at that as long as he didn't resort to throwing the bullets for extra umph.

I'd be more inclined to call it a knock down, drag out super butt-whuppin', seeing as how Lex/Zod beat the tar out of Clark.
Yeah, that was a butt kicking more than a fight. Not only did he beat the crap out of Clark, he beat the crap out of the rock upon which he put Clark.

Clark really should see if the local YMCA has karate classes. Or ask Lana. In a straight up unpowered fight, I'm pretty sure she could take. Him and Chloe could go to the same class.

I don't know if that would help, except he might be able to beat up normal-powered goons without resorting to Super-powers. He'd be developing relfexes for normal-strength/speed fighting if he studied with a human teacher (especially one that didn't know about his powers); what he needs training for his to beat guys that are in his class when it comes to strength and/or speed.

With respect, my understanding is that Kryptonians did not have their powers on their homeworld. Zod learned to fight without powers as a soldier, and that carried over when he was fighting Clark.

The main problem I can see is that Clark might actually have to be de-powered to learn how to do the same thing. As long as he has full kryptonian powers, he'd have to constantly be holding back when learning to fight from a human, when what he needs to learn is how to go all out against an equal opponent.

It would help him because at the very least, he'd be learning the basics. I'm not saying he needs to shoot for umpteenth high dan black belt, but he could stand to learn to block a punch or two and throw a kick. And he could learn that from an unpowered instructor. And then he could practice it on whatever super-powered freak of the week shows up. Or a mountain. Heck, once he gets his speed a little faster, he could posisbly even practice with himself. :) But he really needs to learn some basics.
