Okay,

So as was revealed during the long-lost Luther brother episode, Lionel Luther was faking his blindess. I caught that a while back. Now, though, watching some of these older episodes that I had either not seen before or just catching a second time, I am noticing lots of _critical_ moments where Lionel's blindess (or lack there of) would change the meaning of things/situations ENTIRELY.

So, my question is (and maybe I just missed an episode)... when did Lionel start faking his blindess (or was he never blind to begin with?)

example - in the episode where lionel gets shot, there is a flashback scene where Lionel is actually saying nice things about Lex to another person. Lex doesn't think Lionel knows he is there, but if Lionel did see Lex in the doorway, then it could be considered just another Lionel ploy.

example - in the episode where Lionel and Martha are held hostage, Clark OBVIOUSLY uses his abilities and his weakness to green kryptonite is made clear. if lionel actually saw all that, then everything is soooo much different

I am inclined to believe that Lionel may have had very short term blindess. Perhaps it was originally diagnosed as more permanent, but when it was resolved, he did not tell anyone and has been faking it for essentially all of this season.

Thoughts? Opinions? Something I am missing from some other episode?

Edit: correcting a one of many type-os :)

IIRC, in the episode, Lyonel says that he's been able to see "for a few weeks." (I could be misremembering; it's been a while since I saw it.)

So no, he wasn't faking it all the time, or even most of it; just toward the end there.

The big question is, was he faking it in the ep where Clark saved him and Martha from the thieves in the Luthercorp Building? 'cuz if he was, that opens up a huge can o' worms. :)

Hmmm. That could, indeed, be the episode where he recovers his sight. Who /knows/ what be exposed to that huge amount of Kryptonite did to him.. to Martha.. to the crooks...

But, what if that is just another of his many plot-twists? He says he has been able to see for a few weeks, but what if he was never blind to start with? I wouldn't put it past his devious mind to do that.
