I bought the pdf d20 version. It is pretty awesome. Printing takes alot of ink, but comes out nice. I have just a run-of-the-mill $100 laserjet printer, and it came out good. I didnt print everything, just the character creation, classes, skills, feats etc... I dont think you'd have to print out everything at first anyway. I am looking forward to putting togther a game.

I got the deluxe PDF for pre-ordering the book. It's beautiful. Being the IT guy at work has its benefits, so I ran my copy out on one of our duplexing laserjets. Even so, it's huge, completely filling a binder.

The contents, as previously noted are tremendous. I'm currently working on a campaign kickoff that will take place in the Reach, about a year before Balon Greyjoy's rebellion (making it a decade prior to the start of the book). I'm adapting an old GURPS Fantasy setting called Harkwood into the holdings of the Hawleys of Thornwell, banner lords to House Florent. It'll be heavy on chivalry and intrigue, if all goes to plan.

I've also got a sick idea for a darkly comedic campaign set on the Wall inspired by "Blackadder Goes Forth". I'm not sure I have the GMing chops to pull it off though.

Hey Theron! Sounds cool!!!! I had my first session last Tues. & the combat/ influence rules were a blast to play. I'm preparing for a tourney, hunt, & feast for next week's game. It has even been a lot of fun coming up with Npc's1 Good luck with your campaign Theron! aester Luwin

I almost bought the book at Gen Con, but then I saw the (d 20 only) version that will be released in October. And i decided to save $50 bucks and wait until then. I can tell you the art lay out was outstanding. Quality stuff! I was hoping they would have an adventure in it. I will be looking forward to some modules they put out... hopefully they will!

Thank you for the high praise. Very much appreciated.

There isn't an adventure in the core book, as you may know by now, but if memory serves (and it's swimming with too much AGOT info!) we have a decent number of plot hooks and adventure ideas.

I have a rough adventure that I hope to beat into shape to put up for free on our website (back up soon, I hope), and the first supplement - while a way's off - should have many PLAYER OPTIONS and a LARGE ADVENTURE in its pages.

I would also be willing to try to carve out a section of the website for fan-produced adventure / mini-modules or whatnot, if people are up to the task. (I haven't run this by Mark or Adam yet, so it might not fly for size reasons, legal reasons, etc., but I'd like to try to build in some support network).

cheers,
JS

Hey Luwin,

Great to hear it went well. If you have time, I'd love to see an [Actual Play] type thread posted here and/or on RPG.net, in order to see what you guys did, and how it all worked.

cheers,

Hi Guys, Ive been searching for AGOT rpg thread since i picke up the PDF last week, it has been so frustrating with the GOO site down, iknow you guys have got a sh*tload on at the mo so np.

Its good to see some of the regular posters to the site here as some of the stuff on the goo forums was spot on.

Having now read the book ive gotta say it is truly an outstanding piece of work and i really cannot wait to start a game.

A few people here have taed how they think it is going to be a hard game to GM and from my perspective i can only agree, within the group that i Play with i have a number of different types of players, and with a number of them are of the opinion that if its not high fantasy then its not worth playing the other pain is that these two particular players have not read the books. My other two players are what i would call thinking players they invest the most time in their characters and are willing to give anything a go (they are also the ones who have read the books)

Please stick with me their is a point to this post

So my decision is this, With a lot of extra work i have decided to set the time frame for my campaign at around the time of the third book (a storm of swords)

The main reason for this decision is that slowly but surely magic has started to enter the world, Whilst i do not want magic to overshadow, unbalance or dilute the Westreos mythos i feel that any campaign i run will not stand an earthly cahnce if magic is not at the very least accesible, (all be it only open to prestige classes) I have started work n some prestige classes that will allow a small amount of magic to be accesible, even then it will be rare and certainly not far reaching, Healing will be vv rare.

Magical items, As the effect of the Dragons starts to increase the magical aura of westeros so previously mundane ites will sart to develop magical effects, valyrian steel is the most obvious benefactor, however again to limit the effect this has on the world these will still be fairly rare occurences, i will use the covenant item system (midnight) to ensure tht the world isnt awash with highly magical artefacts.

The whole reason for this post is to get feedback from like minded gamers. am destroying the mythos of Westeros purely to make my life as DM easier.

Please feel free to give me feedback i have joined so that ican get campaign ideas, hooks, character writeups, character classes (PC and NPC pyromancer anyone). Bsically anything that helps.

Chhers :)
