I was wondering if it just felt short due to the format or not.

Oh, well. Guess it was.

Agreed. Larger articles simply appear smaller online---which hits right at the percieved value of the piece.

That is definitely a hurdle WotC is going to have to overcome if they want to sell online content.

On the one hand, making any kind of judgement now, with only one article and an editorial up, just wouldn't be fair. They should get to publish the whole issue before I pass judgement.

On the other hand, first impressions are a big factor, and my first impression is "that's it?" Were I them, I would most definately not be drip-feeding Dragon to their website; I would publish it all at once, at the end of the month.

Regardless, I won't be paying for Dragon or Dungeon when the time comes; I might get them thrown in if I subscribe to the DI, but that would be because of the tools, not because of the 'magazines'. That decision has nothing to do with what has been released so far, though.

Unless you're judging it by the same criteria as me: "do I enjoy reading this article as much sitting in front of my computer as I would sitting on a bench outside my office with a smoothie?"

Sadly, the answer is a resounding no. :(

Here's what they promised in the teaser for issue 360:
* Dungeons & Dragons 360

* The Ecology of the Death Knight

* Demonomicon of Iggwilv: Graz’zt

* Plus Dragons of Eberron coverage, weekly Design & Development updates, and more!
So far, we've seen the death knight, and it was okay, but nothing all that shiny. We've also seen a brief "Dungeons and Dragons 360," which I trust is not the complete article. The preview of Dragons of Eberron posted thus far was the usual wizards.com preview, but more may be coming.

Dragon hasn't wowed me yet, but they haven't put out much yet. James Jacobs usually delivers the goods with the Demonomicon, and there's always the "and more!" Hopefully there's a lot of it.

Hope that they don't stupidfy the demonomicon in order to 4e it (i.e. no stats.) That would make the article well, worthless and not worthy of the title.

I miss the "sitting on a can reading my magazine" factor as well... But the "I can use this more easily as a DM" factor I see for a lot of the stuff outweighs it.

After I got done reading stuff it often just sat on my shelf destined to be used "at some point."

I could always print it out if I want to read it somewhere else. I can also just print out the articles I want to use in my game and put them in a binder. My own dragon compendium. Much easier to actually use then a stack of like 50 magazines.

So far it hasn't been any worse then the magazine. Just a new format. If I remember correctly Paizo wasn't super fast getting everything together at first either.

I agree completely...and this is my fear as well.

The quality of the Demonomicon article is pretty much the deciding factor on whether I will embrace the DI or not.
