Can the halfling perform his own attacks at your target while being wildly swinged around? Is the halfling damaged by the impact?

Hey nightfall I understand the -4 but all I am saying is that throwing someone is easier cause u don't have aim at a orc. Either way they r squiming but picking up a 30 lb halfling and tossing him is easier than swinging him in my opinion.

That may be your opinion but I don't necessarily agree with it. Two reason for it.

1) Tossing someone gives you the chance of NOT hitting it more than hitting your target. Holding on you still have some degree of control.

2) Tossing a halfling at an orc, the Orc can duck, the halfling can adjust his velocity more since nothing is holding him and the fact is it just makes sense game wise. :p

HS,

yeah well halflings as improvised weaponry is almost as fun as using kobolds the same way.

I didn't mean tossing someone at the orc I am just saying tossing someone is easier than swinging them as a weapon. Unless they r willing subjects then it could go either way. Swinging a "little person" at a orc isnt' a half bad idea and adds humor to a campaign which most I played have lacked due to boundaries established by the dm. In any case if your party thief is doubling as your backup weapon u might wanna by an extra sword.

delf,

Who said it had to be a party member? Maybe it's an evil halfling that's got some mooks working for him? That cause you can easily do that if you aren't THAT lawful. ;) And I don't necessarily agree that tossing someone IS easier than swinging them as a weapon. But whatever.

Try tossing a small person sometime and then try swinging them as a weapon and u tell me which u think is easier. For me it's the toss cause u just grab and throw. Not saying it's accurate or effective but easier. Swinging a living unwilling participate who is struggling at say an orc seems a bit harder cause all teh halfing has to do is roll up in a ball if u r swinging them by the feet and now u can't really do anything with them. If u throw them just place one hand under an armpit and one onn their bottom and toss. Very simple and if u surprise them they can't react as fast as they could if u grab them by their feet and swing them.

The average halfling weighs 30-35 pounds. With that weight I would actually make a halfling a Large one-handed weapon that inflicts 1d8 subdual damage (in other words, a Large sap).

If wearing medium to heavy armour, I would allow the damage to be lethal. Spiked armour would boost the damage to 2d6 lethal as if the halfling was now a large morningstar or flail.

Of course, a halfling is an Exotic weapon. I would rule that, unless unconscious or helpless, that a successful grapple check would be required to wield a halfling as a weapon to reflect the need to keep the halfling moving so that centrifugal forces keep him rigid and suitable for use as a weapon.

I must borrow this thread for the Midnight boards where using halfling as weapons probably makes a lot of sense for certain orcs....
