I just finished Season 1 on DVD and was surprised when Season 2 popped up on my next months NetFlix list. It seems odd to release 1/2 a season on DVD. How sure are you that there will even be a season 2.5?
Because there is no season 2.5, there's a season 2, which Sci-Fi artificially broke in half to try and drive ratings. It's a money grab, I suppose.

Also, the first season made no sense. Can Cylon's predict the future? Why did Number Six tell Baltar go to Kobol when Kobol was swarming with Raiders and he almost died? Why have a Base Star orbiting Kobol at all when, apparently, the Cylons -want- the humans to go to Kobol and find the location of Earth? Are you supposed to despise the president chick?
Let's see: No, cylons can't predict the future, as far as we know. In fact, we've seen proof that they can only guess in the second season. Second, we don't know what's going on in Baltar's head....he hasn't found a chip in there (and he's looked by x-ray). So he may be crazy...or not. We don't know, yet.
The reason for the base star...and in fact most of what the cylons do, is The Plan. The Cylon's are religious zealots, and they're trying to make something happen. If mankind plays it's part in their little social experiment, than they get to keep living. Fail, and they die. Remember Helo's "if he goes North, he dies" conundrum? Same deal, just much larger. The cylons are trying to manipulate mankind, but sometimes mankind throws them a curve-ball. My opinion remains that while some fragments of mankind were meant to exist, Galactica was NOT supposed to survive....so they've been improvising. Plus we have confirmation that there are factions amongst the cylons, so sometimes they work at cross purposes.
I don't know that we're
supposed to feel anyway about any particular character. I like President Roslin. Some don't. I actually like Colonel Tigh, even though I think he's a complete #$(*#*.
