So what happened to Battlestar Galactica?

Dark Psion

First Post
Sci Fi dropped the Monday repeat a couple weeks ago and preempted it last Friday for Halloween movies, but when I checked the upcoming TV guide, there is no BSG on Friday nights as far as I could see.

If we want to see any re-runs, are we going to have to wait for the season2 DVD release?

Or is this the Cartman strategy?
This show is too good for you to see!
Wow these new episodes are so great, I bet you wish you could watch them?

SciFi usually starts showing special movies and miniseries during Nov and Dec. (The original BSG mini-series was one of those.) Then they'll probably have a marathon of BSG episodes the week or weekend before the 2nd half of the season resumes in Jan (or Feb.)

I don't have cable, so I've never seen the series. I did find a DVD of the original miniseries in a bargain bin at FYE, so I got it. I have mixed feelings on it. The storyline is pretty good, but the special effects seem kinda dark and washed out.... I had a hard time seeing what was going on in places. Still, it was a good show... I suppose I'll pick up Season 1 one of these days...

Yes, get it, and part of Season 2 will be out, next month. :)

I just finished Season 1 on DVD and was surprised when Season 2 popped up on my next months NetFlix list. It seems odd to release 1/2 a season on DVD. How sure are you that there will even be a season 2.5?

Also, the first season made no sense. Can Cylon's predict the future? Why did Number Six tell Baltar go to Kobol when Kobol was swarming with Raiders and he almost died? Why have a Base Star orbiting Kobol at all when, apparently, the Cylons -want- the humans to go to Kobol and find the location of Earth? Are you supposed to despise the president chick?

Because there is no season 2.5, there's a season 2, which Sci-Fi artificially broke in half to try and drive ratings. It's a money grab, I suppose.

Let's see: No, cylons can't predict the future, as far as we know. In fact, we've seen proof that they can only guess in the second season. Second, we don't know what's going on in Baltar's head....he hasn't found a chip in there (and he's looked by x-ray). So he may be crazy...or not. We don't know, yet.

The reason for the base star...and in fact most of what the cylons do, is The Plan. The Cylon's are religious zealots, and they're trying to make something happen. If mankind plays it's part in their little social experiment, than they get to keep living. Fail, and they die. Remember Helo's "if he goes North, he dies" conundrum? Same deal, just much larger. The cylons are trying to manipulate mankind, but sometimes mankind throws them a curve-ball. My opinion remains that while some fragments of mankind were meant to exist, Galactica was NOT supposed to survive....so they've been improvising. Plus we have confirmation that there are factions amongst the cylons, so sometimes they work at cross purposes.

I don't know that we're supposed to feel anyway about any particular character. I like President Roslin. Some don't. I actually like Colonel Tigh, even though I think he's a complete #$(*#*.

I was just wondering why they called it Season 2.0 instead of Season 2.

Let's see: No, cylons can't predict the future, as far as we know.
How do the cylons know that Starbuck will survive the crash to find the Raider?
How do they know Starbuck, herself, will return to Caprica?
How does Number Six know to send Baltar to Kobol? How does she know he won't die in the process?
How did they know Boomer would be the one to nuke the base star in order to have a pack of them ready to go?

I guess it just seems that the Cylons aren't really trying very hard to destroy Galactica (witness the 140 raiders breaking off the attack in Hand of God). They are evidently able to communicate with the cylons in the fleet (even to the point of ordering Boomer to wound Adama but not kill him), so they could easily jump 100+ base stars right on top of the fleet and vape Galactica.

Plus we have confirmation that there are factions amongst the cylons, so sometimes they work at cross purposes.
I haven't seen this yet. I hope that's true since it is the only thing that would make sense.

They've always done this with their original series. It's mainly so that they don't compete with the new fall shows of the regular networks. Why is trying to increase ratings a 'money-grab'? If they don't have good ratings, advertisers pay less or pull out, and the show goes off the air...

So, where's a link to this season 2 dvd supposedly coming out next month? It doesn't make sense that they'd release a half-season...
