Some balance issues I've noticed in the Miniatures Handbook...

The Tactical Soldier is potentially DEADLY OVERPOWERED in the hands of one class - The rogue. The requirements can be met by 7th level and the Flanker ability makes the Sneak Attack ability exponentially more dangerous! Hell, two rogues with a level of Tactical Soldier can and will out-damage, I think, almost anything else in the game. Not a likely combination to be sure, but still worrying. My solution is to move Flanker to a later level of the prestige class.

The Distracting Attack can give a +7 or higher bonus to hit for all allies at high levels. The bonus should be named so it won't stack with itself.

Basically, you can pick any spot that you threaten, and you're considered to be in that position for the purpose of flanking your opponents and helping your friends flakn your opponents.

I agree that there are balance issues with the MHB. A few of the feats seem to be unbalanced as well, such as Mage Slayer. The +1 on saves vs. spells/spell-like abilities seems like it could be a feat by itself.

Also a lot of cheesy min/max builds rely on one level of Marshall to get one minor aura that really augments your character concept.

Erm, that's any adjacent square, not any threatened square. I just looked it up. No advantage from using reach. And you can only change it during your round. And your opponent is free to move to defeat your virtual flank, as you no longer flank from your actual square. It's cool, but we'll have to play with it to see if it's really all that. I have a fighter in my game who's just picked it up, we'll see how often he pulls it off.

One thing I noticed is that evil always wins, because good is dumb.

Seriously, and it could have been the fact that we had more evil minis than good minis but no matter who played the good side they always got stomped.
