Some random SG-1 questions [Plus a Couple NEW Ones]

OK, here's another one:

It is obvious how the humans came to worship the Gould -- the Gould sought to be worshipped and used their technology to that end. Why did some humans (assuming that there is a connection to the Norse pantheon, and I assume from context that there must be), worship the Asgard AND think that they looked a whole lot different than they do?

I assume that the episode where the Asgard are first introduced explains that one, but I never saw it.

The Asgard never appeared in person to the early humans... Only as holographic projections, which look like mighty norse warriors.

In the episode where we first see the Asgard, it is implied that the Asgard allow the humans to worship them in order to facilitate peaceful growth of the people. They've been shown to do this on a few different worlds, almost always worlds that they protect.

Further making stuff up, perhaps the humans simply had a need to worship something (from goa'uld culture left over), and when the Asgard showed up and said 'we're just as tough as the goa'uld, we'll protect you, haha my merry little warriors', they thought 'hey, they fight gods, they might be gods'. And the Asgard didn't bother to change their impression. Asgard have never been very forthcoming with information anyway, so it would be quite in character for them to go, 'Oh, they think we're gods, better use that in making sure they don't do anything silly and low-tech'.
