Some random SG-1 questions [Plus a Couple NEW Ones]

Because they all needed to stay near the power source to stay active. Otherwise they would drain power quickly and would cease to function. I think SG-1 lasted maybe a couple of hours away from the power source before almost shutting down. He said others had take the portable power sources through the Stargate along time ago.

Oh, and it was Anubis.

When the SG-1 and its clones killed Cronos, the clones has internal power sources that seemed to last days at least.

True. When Daniel was posing as his attendant, Daniel said something like "Baal took 60 million lives so Cronos could not have (something-or-other)," Yu responded. "yes, he is a sore loser," implying that Yu felt that act of needly mass-killing was a bad thing to do.{QUOTE]

This sounds more like he thought that it was in poor taste or was a minor violation of protocol/unwritten rules. Saying someone is a sore looser implies that you are playing a game after all.

Then again, he's also going senile it seems (As in, where Teal'c convinces his first prime to act in his stead and make a deal with Baal when he chickens out against Apothos (or was it Anubis).

No, I think that Yu is simply more calculating and less brutal than the other System Lords. He seems to prefer subtlety to brute force. But, I think he is still just as evil as the others. The Goa'uld are very arrogant, and I don't think Yu is much different. He's just smarter than the rest and doesn't let that arrogance cloud his judgement.

Not smarter --- older and more experienced. Perhaps he was more brutal in his younger days, but he is the one of the oldest of the System Lords. I believe only Anubus and Osirus are older, and the former is also a lot more patient and calculating, while the latter has far less life experience than his/her age indicates, being that he was in stasis for few millenia.

In D&D terms, most Goa´uld are probably Chaotic Evil, but some - like Yu and probably Anubis are lawful evil...

They say in the episode that the power sources last 48 hours. Missons for the clones were 24 hours typical, and the power sources can go up to 48 hours.

Speaking of stargate, they showed the first three episodes of the first season on SciFi last night. I'd never seen them before. Wow. Great stuff, right from the beginning.

"I have nowhere to go."
"For this, you can stay at my place."

I've just been catching the occasional episode, but now I think I have another series to accumulate on DVD. And I'm already behind on my Buffy and Angel collecting. Darnit.

Yep. My friend has the first 4 seasons on DVD. It's really worth it. I'm enjoying this show a lot more now that I've had the chance to watch the episodes consecutively. They really make use of previous material, bringing in characters from previous seasons, and show concepts, etc. F.ex., I just watched the finally from season 4. They used the blackhole from season 1 (IIRC), and the previous episode they used the clones from season 2 (or maybe 1?), and the Tokra (sp) base with the spy Goa'uld from the beginning of season 4. And there are rarely any inconsistencies.

Great show.

Monday from 7 till 11 (eastern time) they show 4 in a row, they are supposed to be in order, Monday they showed the first 4 episodes so that means they are starting over, it's a good a time as any to catch the whole series in order on Sci Fi. (I wouldn't be watching it myself but Mistwell fought so ferverantly for Stargate being good in a old Farscape thread that I decided to give it another try.)

I've watched the whole series since it was first locally syndicated (I believe I'm about a season behind), and it is a good show. I'm not surprised it's (supposedly) the most popular Sci-Fi show on TV. It has the feel of a lot of classic Star Trek (and TNG), yet it's its own show with it's own flavor. And it does maintain a good solid storyline, it doesn't have an arc like B5, but it's very consistent. It also builds on itself. Unlike Star Trek, technology and knowledge isn't lost and forgotten between episodes, we see them learning about advanced tech, and yet the producers manage to keep them from acquiring too much advanced tech in a very logical manner.
