They did not forget, on the directors commentary of the extended FoTR DVD, PJ said they ran out of cash before they could put the effect in, so they just left it out.

I heard that, but to me it sounded like Fran Walsh (who said it) was joking as an excuse to cover the gaff -- and it wouldn't explain the same mistake in ROTK (unless they're just trying to be consistent with FotR, which I can see).

Or maybe the DM decided that handing out artifacts was unbalancing, so he nerfed the king of Gondolin's sword?

Notice that Aragorn's sword is not the generic one he used throughout the first two films, but Andúril.

I liked the first picture. And the picture of Arwen, that doesn't look like any elf boat, hmmmm?

Wow. Morrus, thanks for posting those. All of them are great - and that one of Sam and Frodo reminds me of the Pieta. THIS is the film that will win the Oscar for Best Picture; the people who haven't read the book are going to be SO blown away.
