Someone is Bringing Pizza to the Game Tonight

Pizza: What is Your Preference?

Who here has had Round Table pizza? We used to go to it about every other Saturday back when I lived in California.
We have Round Table in Portland. We also have Godfather's Pizza--and we're on the West Coast.

We also have Pizzicato, with the basics and all kinds of weird but delicious combinations, such as:

*DI POLLO chicken breast, mushrooms, roasted garlic & fontina on a garlic/olive oil base

*AL GRECO lamb sausage, feta, onions & tomatoes on a garlic/olive oil base - with tzatziki sauce on the side

*MOLTO CARNE pepperoni, canadian bacon, our fennel sausage, mushrooms, olives & tomatoes :p

Back in 2004, they had won consumer awards for "best pizza" in more than 60 US markets, including Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Atlanta, Indianapolis and Phoenix. They were miles out in front of any other pizza chain in that regard, at that time. I never liked them very much, but they were the gold standard in commercial pizzerias for a long time. I suppose that might have changed in the last six years.

For pizza chains, Vocelli's is my favorite, especially their gourmet pizzas. Their vegeterian pizza made me actually reconsider my kneejerk reaction to not having meat on a pizza. Unfortunately, I can't get a Vocelli's to deliver where I live.

You eat alone a lot I take it.

And spend time alone for hours afterwards, too?
Har har. But no, this is actually a very common pie on Pizza Night. We usually get this one and a pepperoni, mushroom, and garlic. Both are enjoyed by all present.

And *I* declare Flying Pie Pizza in Portland Oregon to be the best in all of the world. The only way you could disagree, is if you haven't eaten there.

Anchovies rock, but they need to be rinsed before putting them on the pizza or they're nasty. That takes the vile film and excess (okay, half the yearly supply of) salt out of them.

Pepperoni is nasty. It's ground guts seasoned with bile and fennel. Otherwise I'm pretty open to toppings, including seafood. I even made a chicken curry pizza the other night with a naan-style crust, korma-style sauce and with feta. It was darned tasty.
