SOMEWHAT OT: Silver Age Sentinels

Yes, all supplements will feature dual stats -- Tri-Stat and d20. We do not have any rights to publish Hero stats.
That's what I expected. Still, since Hero's fifth edition just came out, it might be interesting to see some adventures with both SAS and Champions stats side by side.

The Tri-Stat version is simply awesome, and it really is the best way to simulate superheroes. IMHO, buy it and try it, it is very easy to learn. It uses 2d10, roll under as the base mechanic, but it is very flexible and easy to tweak (if you want to use 2d10 or 1d20 and add the stat vs a TN, it would be very simple to do.) Tri-stat has no classes or levels, you buy whatever you want with your Advancement points.

Anyone that wants more info can read my review of it here...

Oh, just wanted to add, the Tri-Stat Dexuxe Limited Ed is the only version that is/will be in color, the d20 and regular Tri-Stat versions will be b&w... still pretty, I'm sure, but the color adds a lot... Buy it quick, though, because the DLE in color sold out in 2 weeks flat! It's practically a collector's item already! Buy 2 and polybag it! :)

I've ordered two ;) One for using, one for keeping safe.
You know, Horacio, there's a beautiful, full-color, deluxe edition (perfect for keeping safe) and a less expensive, black-and-white edition (perfect for using).

Samurai, I read your review when it came out on rpg.net, and it really piqued my interest. You seem to have some Hero experience; do you like SAS better?

I have played and ran Hero for years. I did some playtesting of SAS with my group (sadly, not as much as I would have liked). Many of them had minor gripes and such. Myself, I liked it a lot. It's just as flexible character design-wise as Hero (maybe even more so), but a lot easier mathematically, and the combats are much faster. The variable damage thing takes some getting used to, but it's a good thing. We're still getting the feel for what defenses and attacks should be, but we'l get there :)

The book is absolutely gorgeous. I love the campaign setting, and the full-size comic book covers that adorn the beginning of each chapter are wonderful.

Here's another thing: the original characters created for this game are the best I've seen. Unlike Blood of Heroes, these are people you want to read actual comics about. Sentinel is the man! This game reflects exactly the comics I loved to read as a kid. This is the real thing.

What kind of gripes did they have?

That all sounds good.

People really seem to love the art!

More strong praise!

3) I'd pay 45 bucks a pop (Actually I only paid $32 for SAS, but you'll get my point) with no reservation for a 3E PHB, DMG, and MM that is a nicely done as SAS...
Where is the Deluxe Edition available for just $32?
