Heh- I wish I could have played a Battle Sorc for my current PC- sadly, they weren't allowed.

Right now, I'm playing a standard Sorcerer (next will be a level of Ftr) with the Draconic Bloodline & Dragon breath (lightning). He wears Scale Mail and uses a Maul- 10HP, AC 21 and 1d10x2B, baby! Just about the most fun I've had as a spellcaster for several years.

In all honesty, he's a niche character, but he plays cool. He has some no-somatic component spells, but in a pinch, his breath weapon is what saves the day.

Why not sorcerer 4/warlock 6/Eldritch Theurge 2?

A human would get 5 feats:

Depending on alignment use the heritage feats (from Complete Mage - same source as prestige class)

If good go fey heritage, if evil go fiendish

Fey - Fey Heritage, fey power, fey skin, fey legacy - probably point blank shot (so can take precise shot later)

Fiendish - fiendish heritage, fiendish power, fiendish resistance, fiendish legacy

I really like the Draconic Heritage feats. Havine a Su breath attack is nice in a pinch and the spell list additions are very nice.

There is a lot to be said, of course, for a straight up Sorcerer with Improved Initiative, Spell Focus once or twice, and starting at 12th level, maybe Extra Spell.

Fig 1/Sorcer 6/ Eldright Knight is kind of nice. You lose two caster levels, but in return, you get some durability, you can snag Improved Initiative as a bonus feat, and your touch and ray attacks become unstoppable. I like the PBS/Precise Shot route, but there are plenty of things to do besides becoming a terror with rays. This is a good option for a front line blaster/controller, but may be weaker if you are expected to do a lot of utility casting and buffing. You can also use this as a basis for a reach-weapon wielding caster with Arcane Strike.

Sorcerer/Mage of the Arcane Order/Loremaster can take the normally narrowly focused sorcerer and add a good spread of skills, extra languages, and extra spells and feats.
