[Sorta OT] There's a Viking campaign setting in here somewhere...

Note: as interesting as the various RPG Viking supplements undoubtedly are, I'm not sure why they would be necessary here. Has anyone actually read the book I posted at the begining, I wonder? It's a bit of a scary thought to me that when I make a post that mentions Vikings, I'm immediately referred to a bunch of RPG books. The Vikings did exist outside of RPGs, you know ;)

True enough; in fact, it predates the Romans for that matter, being a Greek term for the farthest inhabitable land to the North. It just seems to be a very poor title if it's about Vikings settling America, since they came south from Greenland to do so.

It's not a sourcebook on vikings in the new world, it is a sourcebook on viking lands in Ars Magica's mythic Europe including rune magic and giants. It also covers finnland with their wind/knot magic in addition to Scandinavia and the typical vikings.

I don't remember how in depth it goes on Greenland or the american colonial sagas.

Does this sound interesting?
As a matter of fact a large part of my "norse-flavored" setting is about the early stages of exploration and expansion in the campaign world. Keep in touch with your efforts, this is definitely the direction I want to be heading in.

Cheers,

A'koss.

I was wondering; that makes much more sense. However, see my latest post -- I don't need game companies to tell me about the Vikings; I can read (and have read) all kinds of historical works on them that I feel is a much better source.

I read your later posts as well, just trying to clear up the misperception about what the book is. I found it fun for the flavor of the magic systems, as I find is the case with most ars magica products.
