Sovelior/Sage SRD

Tip jar, definately.

Sov-n-Sage SRD is my SRD of choice. It replaces all books at my gaming table, as far as rules questions during play, and replaces my books during prep times, as well. It's well laid out, easy to read, easy to find stuff.

The ONLY thing I need a book for, half the time, is the "Wealth By Level" table in the DMG. I can never remember that thing correctly and it's IP or whatever, I guess.

That was freaky. I was about to post and you'd already posted exactly what I was thinking.... :uhoh:

As it's unethical to use shareware programs without paying the fees, and as not everybody has the money, I don't see why people want to steer anyone away from completely free software solutions that basically do the same *shrug*. If you don't like that 7-zip doesn't handle ace files, complement it with XAcePlus, and that one goes also for free. Really free!

And let's not steer this thread away too much from this really great version of the SRD :)! It's some wonderful piece of work :).

It definitely improves load time, plus if you put it on your local drive you save Raven's bandwidth.
Don't worry about that. Although my provider would apprechiate it and hate me less in return. I actually pay a fixed and fairly low price a month for unlimited bandwidth. It was a limited offer back then and I guess they didn't think someone like me would come along. 25GB traffic a month is the average. However, they decided to implement a restriction on all files not considered webcontent. On busy days this seriously hampers the download of zips. I'll try to find another provider but this could take a while.

And no, I won't accept donations or anything else (even if a new provider would cost more) because I'm not worth it. Hosting something isn't exactly a hard thing to do and sage is the one that should be praised for his work.

Both good points. Please excuse my mistake there.

This is the first time I've come across this version of the SRD, personally. It looks very well done. Better than the couple I already had, from what I've checked so far. Nice work!

Actually there are a lot of freeware multipurpose packers, that support the standart zip format as well as others. Go here (I recommend IZArc) for some of them. In my oppinion zipping provides two advantages. It reduces the size of the provided content and it allows to present multiple files in an easy way. Now, using a method, that is very good in one aspect but bad in the other can't be considered a good solution at all.

But hey, that's just my 2 cents. I'm sorry to join this off-topic discussion but keeping my mouth shut is not something I'm particular good at. :p

I use your version of the SRD constantly. I rarely open my monstrous manual or DMG any more, and only use the PHB when my computer isn't handy (usually when I'm a player and not DM)

Ah, I actually wanted to ask you a while ago, how much traffic your site generates, because it has some rather frequented pages on it.

Guess my traffic limit (50GB) should be more than enough, then... of course, unlimited is even better. :)

Bye
Thanee
