Spare Memory

OK, so I've recently had my economy stimulated with a government check. I'd been looking at upgrading my computer's RAM, because both slots were full of 512 MB. I bought one stick of 1024, so now I've got 1536 MB in the computer and a spare 512 trying hard not to get a static charge.

Are there any ideas about what I can do with this memory besides trash it? It's full of precious metals and rare earths, maybe I won't get much selling it, but I'd feel less wasteful and maybe I could save someone's day if I found someone looking for cheap memory.

Any advice would be appreciated!

You could try this. I have a pair of spare laptop memory sticks that I've been considering sending in, but just haven't done it yet.

If you have a local Freecycle chapter, or a local Craigslist.org "Free" section -- as you said, you probably wouldn't get much by selling it so may as well just save yourself the time and trouble of finding a "buyer" and just give it away to someone that wants it for his computer.
