Special Conversion Thread: Aboleths

Well, Combat Manifestation is an easy one, and so is Quicken Power. I guess there's no way to quicken a PsLA, so perhaps something like Twin Power or Psionic Meditation instead of Quicken SLA. Spell Knowledge can go to Epic Expanded Knowledge (can always reserve one for a different feat if we want). Improved Spell Capacity goes to Improved Manifestation (again, we can reserve one for something else). For the rest, maybe some metapsionic feats ending with Improved Metapsionics?

Ability Focus (enslave), Alertness, Combat Manifestation, Extend Power, Improved Epic Expanded Knowledge (to acquire form of doom from psychic warrior list), Improved Initiative, Improved Manifestation (x2), Improved Metapsionics, Iron Will, Maximize Power, Psionic Meditation, Quicken Power, Twin Power?

Treasure is good, but I really don't know about CR. I do think, though, that it has at least as much going for it as a 30th level sorc or psion, which might argue for a higher CR. Then again, a 23rd level party can probably wear through those hp pretty fast. Just don't know.

I think I found the perfect comparison. The elder brain also has sorcerer/psion variations, full spellcasting/manifesting levels, and is an aberration with 4 ten(dril)tacle attacks. It has 14 less HD, about 100 less hp, lacks the epic spells and above 10th-level slots, and deals far less damage. It is CR 25. So I'm thinking this fellow would fit in nicely around CR 27.

Compared to a few other CR 27 uniques, the Fiendish Codex II version of Asmodeus and Malkizid from Champions of Ruin, and it seems fairly comparable.

You've convinced me. :) And it's only fitting that the grand aboleth be better than a wimpy old elder brain. :p The eldest brain may be another story, though.

Absolutely! And since this is the end of the thread, we won't worry about cluttering it up with the next creature. ;)
