Special Conversion Thread: Frogs n' Toads

No spell-like or supernatural abilities so it seems straigtward enough to make it an animal rather than magical beast ;)

Animal it is.

Here are the other toad stats to help us along.

Fire Toad (S)[OA w/errata]: Str 6, Dex 17, Con 10, Int 5, Wis 10, Cha 7
Giant Toad (M)[OA w/errata]: Str 10, Dex 15, Con 12, Int 2, Wis 9, Cha 5
Poisonous Toad (M)[OA w/errata]: Str 10, Dex 15, Con 14, Int 2, Wis 9, Cha 5
Ice Toad (L)[OA w/errata]: Str 18, Dex 13, Con 17, Int 6, Wis 10, Cha 7

Skills: All toads receive a +12 racial bonus on Jump checks.

Since it is Small, it should probably be closer in physical stats to the Fire Toad.

The ecology for this one absolutely rocks! Definitely have to use lizardfolk throwing live toads at my PCs sometime! :D

So we want to do the 1HD version. Let's start with the Fire Toad and drop the Int to 1-2 and probably drop Cha to 5 (or less).

Bite 1d4-2, then?

Yeah, let's go with the smaller version and save the other for the advancement line.

I agree with your other assessments.

Added to Homebrews.

Some inspiration for the spines...

Barbed Defense (Su): Any creature striking a barbed devil with handheld weapons or natural weapons takes 1d8+6 points of piercing and slashing damage from the devil’s barbs. Note that weapons with exceptional reach, such as longspears, do not endanger their users in this way.

Just change the damage to 2d4 and add that any kind of contact causes damage, and that's good to go.

Like so?

Spines (Ex): Any creature touching a spined toad, including striking it with handheld weapons or natural weapons, attempting to grapple it, or making a touch attack against it, takes 2d4 points of piercing and slashing damage from the toad's spines. Note that weapons with exceptional reach, such as longspears, do not endanger their users in this way.
