Specialized Armor Making Question

What should the price, cost to make, and xp to make? I have not made my own magic item before, and need some advice.

Armor of Healing
This armor of healing allows the wearer to be healed as if by the spell Cure Moderate Wounds when the command word is spoken, up to three times per day, and be healed as if by the spell Cure Serious Wounds once per day upon a different command.

Well, assuming that this is a 3.5 question ... I'll give it a shot. Item creation can be tricky, though, so if I make a mistake don't be surprised.

First thing you need is masterwork armor. That'll be 150+armor price, right?

Now, command word usage is given by the formula (spell level)x(caster level)x1800 gp. So, for Cure Moderate {assuming it is not a Ranger or Druid casting the spell} that is a 2nd level spell, minimum 3rd level caster. So, 2x3x1800 = 10,800 gp. For the Cure Serious part {Again, assuming it is not a Druid, Paladin, or Ranger casting} it is a 3rd level spell, minimum caster level of 5. So, 3x5x1800 = 27,000 gp.

But, since it only has a certain number of uses per day, you take the price and divide it by (5 divided uses per day). So, for the Moderate part that would be 10,800/(5/3) = 6,480 gp. For the Serious part, it would be 27,000/(5/1) = 5,400 gp.

All together, then, you have armor price + 150 + 6,480 + 5,400 = armor + 12,030 gp.

I think that is right. That is of course assuming minimum caster requirements for casting the spell. Higher caster level will make the price go up, but you should be able to handle that on your own, now that you see the formulas.

Good luck. If anyone sees a mistake, please point it out!

Again, assuming v. 3.5 - they are on pp. 285 - 287 of the DMG. All the formulas I used are on p. 285.

And, you're most certainly welcome. But as I said before, item creation is more of an art than a formula following process. So my figure could be a little high or a little low depending on other items of comporable power.

The two abilities are very similar, so you get a discount on the second most expensive ability - cost is 75% of base - so the Serious Cure portion costs only 4,050 gp.

Also, armor doesn't really have an affinity for Healing, so there's a +50% price boost at the end - You are left with (6480+4050)*1.5=15795

These are not similar abilities, since you can benefit from them at the same time.

Therefore, you don't get a price break.

The affinity for armor doesn't matter, because armor isn't a wondrous item.

However, these are additional powers in a slotted item, and therefore have a 50% increase over their base price.

Also, the armor must be at least +1 in order to have any special abilities.
