Spell Points for "other" caster classes

Remathilis

Legend
Greetings.

Unearthed Arcana introduced Spell Points for the base-classes in the PHB. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out the progression to make replicate it for other classes that don't follow those class spell progressions.

So Far, the spellcasting classes in 3.5 are:

Bard (covered)
Cleric (covered)*
Wizard (covered)*
Druid (covered)
Paladin/Ranger (covered)
Sorcerer (covered)

Inferred: The following classes have progressions very similar to one mentioned in UA.
Spellthief (CV)/Hexblade (CW)/Sohei (OA) (as Paladin/Ranger)
Favored Soul (CD)/Mystic (DL)/Shugenja (CD) (as Sorcerer)
Wu Jen (CA) (as Wizard)
Shaman (OA) (as Cleric)

However, many classes aren't covered.

Assassin (or any PrC, for that matter)
Specialist Wizard (evoker, conjurer, etc)
Cleric, domain slot accounted for.
Duskblade (PH2)
Artificer (Eberron)
Spirit Shaman (CD)
Spellcaster (UA Generic Class)
Warmage/Beguiler (CA/PH2)
Dread Necromancer (HoH)
Adept (DMG)
Healer (MH)

The good news is most of the classes mentioned (Spellcaster, Healer, Warmage, Beguiler, Dread Necro, Spirit Shaman, & Beguiler) are VERY similar in progression (within 1-2 spells starting, progressing as sorc, ending with all 6s except for 8th and/or 9th) so one chart COULD encompass them.

The adept, artificer and duskblade are too weird and must have specific charts. As would some PrCs. (Ur-Priest, for example)

So my big question is...

a.) Has anyone reverse-engineered how you come up with spell points per level? I cannot see a correlation between the table and the individual classes spell/day.

b.) Has anyone come up with the tables for those classes I've outlined above?

Any help is genuinely appriciated.

This one had me baffled too. It seems that there's a certain amount arbitrariness in the way that the points were calculated for dedicated casters (wizards, sorcerers, clerics, etc.). I found a post in this thread (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-185062.html) that broke it down thusly:

I'm going to try this again...and maybe this time I'll remember to include the important elements like nouns and such...

To calculate the spell points for minor spell casters such as paladins and rangers, use the following procedure:
1) Multiply the character's 1st level spells per day by 1.
2) Multiply the character's 2nd level spells per day by 3.
3) Multiply the character's 3rd level spells per day by 5.
4) Multiply the character's 4th level spells per day by 7.
5) Add these totals together.

For bards (and possibly other classes that can cast up to 6th level spells) use the following procedure:
1) Multiply the character's 1st level spells per day by 1.
2) Multiply the character's 2nd level spells per day by 3 (counting 0 spells per day as 1 spell per day).
3) Multiply the character's 3rd level spells per day by 5 (counting 0 spells per day as 1 spell per day).
4) Multiply the character's 4th level spells per day by 7 (counting 0 spells per day as 1 spell per day).
5) Multiply the character's 5th level spells per day by 9 (counting 0 spells per day as 1 spell per day).
6) Multiply the character's 6th level spells per day by 11 (counting 0 spells per day as 1 spell per day).
7) add these totals together.

For wizards and priests they used the following procedure for class levels 1 through 9 (remember not to include additional spells for domains or specialization):
1) Multiply the character's 1st level spells per day by 2.
2) Multiply the character's 2nd level spells per day by 3 (if the character can cast more than 2 2nd level spells, subtract 1 spell point from this total).
3) Multiply the character's 3rd level spells per day by 5.
4) Multiply the character's 4th level spells per day by 7 (if the character can cast more than 2 4th level spells, subtract 1 spell point from this total).
5) add these totals together.
6) for each level above 9th add 16 to this total

For sorcerers, they used the procedure for wizards and priests but added an additional amount of spell points equal to (2X the character's highest spell level) -1 to the total.

I hope that clears it up...and don't ask why I bothered to figure it out in the first place....

My thinking would be to calculate spell points for most prestige classes using either of the first two methods, using the first for preparation casters and the second for spontaneous casters.

I'm half inclined to use the method presented for the sorcerer for the duskblade because of its mechanical similarity.
