The (Su) is only how the weapons look like in the hands of a Balor.

That's not what the ability description says.

"Every balor carries a +1 vorpal longsword that looks like a flame or a bolt of lightning."

Not "A balor's +1 vorpal longsword looks like a flame or a bolt of lightning."

Hypersmurf, why hasn't WotC hired you yet? I trust your word on rules far more than the official sources... I mean, you back up your assertions with clear text, ignore silly things like "intent" and get right to the heart of what's actually -written-, even if it's silly. I'll bet you could really clean up the rules too, if they handed you the reigns...

Personally, I'd just house-rule the "Su" descriptor away.

Ok. I read through all of that and am seriously impressed. I'll just throw out the scoreboard and declare Hyp the winner and undisputed champion. Fieari is right; the folks at WotC should hire you. Either that or Erik Mona should get you to do the Sage Advice column in Dragon!
