Spelljammer [Spelljammer] Illithid to Remain "100% bad guys" -- Neogi maybe not?

Slavery is omni-present in D&D? News to me.
Like most bad guys species are slavers, most others have a variant that are slavers. Slavery is the vast majority and the default in D&D land because there's apparently no other way to show you're evil besides owning others and maybe cannibalism. Except all the cannibals' are either lone weirdos or... drumroll... slavers!

You can't swing a dead displacer beast without hitting a slaver, slave or former slave race and I'm okay with the slave hose being dialed down a bit.

The Neogi are still slavers. Their Monsters of the Multiverse entry makes that clear even if the word Slavery is not used outside their ability.

Mords quote in the book even "Only the malevolent or the desperate do business with neogi. I generally advise against working with beings who view you as property or prey."

I guess I have never really noticed, probably because I don't use or care about D&D default "lore."
