Wonder how wotc will ruin Spelljammer?

Thank God Dark Sun is still left intact…
Heh, you obviously didn't read a thing on this thread, as the consensus here is that Spelljammer came through just fine while some think that Dark Sun was ruined (not a consensus on that though). Instead of making disparaging remarks though, you could actually just go through this thread and actually see what's been done to it, as there are plenty of previews which basically cover the whole product...

I think he was being a bit acerbic about how we have tangented well and away from the purpose of the thread which is Spelljammer to discuss the merits of Dark Sun based on Athas-esque elements in a Spelljammer adventure...
But yes, WotC has not ruined our childhood(young adulthood?) with this update of Spelljammer.

Thri-kreen Bladesinger?

"
You can use a bonus action
to start the Bladesong,

which lasts for 1 minute.

It ends early
if you are incapacitated,
if you don medium or heavy armor or a shield,
or if you use two hands to make an attack with a weapon.

"

Yeah, youre right. It doesnt work for the shield.

But.

Cant do: use two hands for ONE weapon attack.
(No greatsword.)

CAN do: use two hands for TWO one-handed weapon attacks.

The bonus action still forces a dilemma, such as offhand versus cantrip.

Meanwhile the "medium armor" is for free from the carapace.
My interpretation of "if you use two hands to make an attack with a weapon" is the intent of this rather clumsy phrase is to prohibit attacking with a two-handed weapon, and at the same time prohibit using the "versatile" feature. So it's fine for a bladesinger, even one with only two arms, to use two weapon fighting without ending bladesong. The kreen could, of course, hold a two-handed weapon and a light weapon, and just use the light weapon whilst bladesong is active.

I wonder if any kreen-specific gear will be included? We have already had two-bladed swords in Eberron, but I seem to recall two-handed shields and four-handed swords.

Can you actually wield two shields?
RAW, you can hold two, but you can only benefit from one:
Shields. A shield is made from wood or metal and is carried in one hand. Wielding a shield increases your Armor Class by 2. You can benefit from only one shield at a time.
-Basic Rules

What does work is stacking the AC bonus from a shield with the AC bonus from the Dual Wielder feat.

Thanks for the quotation.
So no cheese at all.

So the best AC a thri kreen can manage is 13+dex+shield+1 which is not out of order at the time he raises dex to 20 or takes the dual wielder feat. A fighter can't stack it with defensive fighting style.
It also comes at the cost of only wielding one rapier instead of two because one main hand is blocked for the shield.

A kreen barbarian might do better if they can raise CON as well as DEX (e.g. with magic items).

Or Shield spell. Kreen luv EK.

Or Bladesinger.

Yes, but this is not utilizing his natural armor and gimping himself by not utilizing strength.

Except you can manage to raise dex, then finding an amulet of health and gauntlets of ogre power/girdle of giants.
