That's right. The person whose AoOs you're negating, that you are therefore obliged to attack.

If you don't attack him, he was able to make an AoO; if you declared his AoO illegal, you have thereby declared that he is 'the defender you attack', and must therefore attack him.

Heck, in this game you can run from north to south and then jump from south to north!

Thats' why I asked: I can follow the logical option, but nothing in the RAW states that it's the only avalaible option.

And you don't need to light your torch to burn someone with it, right? Although by "run" do you mean "Run" or do you mean "Hustle"?
