Wait a sec, no, it CAN work, it's just using more information than is needed. Since Empower Spell is the only one with a multiplier that works like that, half of that formula is unnecessary.

Oh, I only answered the question, not the example (i.e. multiple empowers (but used a more generic formula, that works for stacking multipliers in general in D&D, not only restricted to metamagic)). That's why I did my second posting to clarify how maximize and empower interact.
