Star Wars – The Clone Wars: Kaminoan Incident

Zak listened to the words of the two Jedi Masters, allowing them to sink in. He bowed to the them (from mid back) and backed away, looking toward the rapidly departing Rei.

Kyle's words are heartening, though perhaps a bit overconfident, Zak thought, but I am very pleased to be traveling with those I trust and have been through so much with.

Zak left after the others to return to his quarters and gather his meager belongings. Two changes of clothes, his flightsuit, utility belt, blasters, lightsaber, and credit chip, and well as a few other minor items. All that was his life here at the temple would be traveling with him.

Zak put his lightsaber into the inside compartment of his flight boot. There was space there for a holdout weapon, that Zak had modified to hold his lightsaber. A simple flip of the material and a light tacking would hopefully prevent discovery from all but the best of searches, but it was easily accessible with his powers of telekinesis.

Zak then made his way to the freighter - to speak with it and become comfortable with her systems. Zak preferred to spend as much time as possible with the ship whenever taking a new ship. One never knew when that knowledge would be vital to saving lives. He wanted to place his belongings in the bunk nearest the piloting station - therefore, to be able to get to the station as quickly as possible when needed.

Zak wanders into the hanger of the Jedi Temple, over a hundred aethersprite starfighters cover the cavernous room's floor in various states of repair. Zak attracts the attention of nearby bith mechanic.
"Can I help you Master Jedi?"

Tal listened to the Masters but did not speak. He did not wish to voice his concerns and worries to the Jedi Masters but knew that they could probably sense it anyways. When the oration is over and he has internalized what he was told, he nods, face flat, and leaves right behind Rei.

Right back into danger. These are difficult times, Tal Jinn. You must be stoic and not let your emotions take over again.

"I'll meet everyone at the Corellian in half an hour, Rei."

Zak was briefly distracted by all of the beautiful Aethersprites. He looked longingly at them. Certainly, 'his' ship was here - the one that had gotten him through that very deadly dogfight, him and his friends. Zak tilted his head to the side, much like the human pet dogs, though he was not aware that he did it.

"Yes, good mechanic," Zak's deep earthy voice replied, "I'm looking for a Corellian YT-1300 freighter - is there one in this bay?"

The bith takes out a dirty rag to wipe grease off his hands. "Aye, she's here. She's a real beauty. Brand new, without scratch on her pretty little hull. I'll take you to her."

The bith mechanic leads Zak through the maze of starfighters, he spies one, half disassembled and heavily damaged. He thinks it might be the one he flew at Fondor, at least the damage looked familiar. The bith leads Zak to corner of the hanger bay near the bay's doors. There on the platform stood a shinny new YT-1300, her light grey and blue paint job sparkling in the sun. Various droids and mechanics swarm over her prepping her for launch.

"Ah, There she is. Just came out of the shipyards last week, I'm told. She pretty much stock right now, but some of the things I hear you can do with these babies... Ooh-we, Sure wish I had some time to tinker, if you know what I mean. She already got a name too, Millennium Falcon. You take good care of her, Master Jedi, and she'll bring you home. "

The bith mechanic leads Zak right up to the boarding ramp, shows him the key code to open the ship. Then turns around to go back to his work.

Jaq'lene was left pretty much to her own devices as the others left her in the hall with the Jedi masters. Smiling at the prospect of adventure, and at the opportunity to remain with her clan-mates the kushiban female bowed to the two masters before skittering down the hallway to the hangar. It was quite some distance for the little kushiban to travel, but travel it she did, at a four-legged run. She was rather fast for someone so small, but the distance to her was proportionally 4 times longer then for the others who could simply take a step and have it carry them an equivalent of four of hers.

By the time she had run to the hangar almost all of the others were probably on their way to having finished whatever packing they had to do. She does arrive in time to follow Zak and the bith to their ship, their very own home for the next few months or even years of their life.

"Does this mean we have no shields?" she asks the Bith as she comes up behind him and Zak.

Zak turned his head and noted the small Jedi, "I apologize Jaq'lene, I had not noticed your presence. Ships do that to me."

Zak bent at the knee and lowered his arm, offering to carry the kushiban so she wouldn't have to run after him. After Jaq'lene decided, Zak turned to listen to the mechanic.

Rei patted down her lovely black leather outfit that she usually wore under her Jedi robes. Tossing the robes aside, she shook her black hair, fixing herself up...by the time she was done the transformation from Jedi rebel to female punk scoundrel was complete.

Slipping on her thigh holster, she hitched it up and slid in her blaster. On the opposite thigh was a long leather pouch where she slipped in both lightsabers to hide them from view. No point in advertising their Jedi-ness if they were going to be smugglers. But she couldn't bear the thought of not having them within reach when needed.

That done, she grabbed her bags and headed off to the hanger bay and grinned at the odd stares she got from the other Jedi in the temple. Finally she reached the ship and spotted Jaq'lene and Zak.

"Hey! Are we ready to ship out?" she called out with a grin and a wave. "What do you think? Think I can pass for a smuggler."

Kyle Valles was staring at the Coruscant skyline from an observation dome, lost in thought. Actually, there was very little thought taking place. He was in a mild meditation, everything about him calm.
"Shouldn't you be preparing to leave on your unique adventure?"
Kyle turned with a smile, to face his mother. He gave her a warm embrace.
"My things are always ready to go at a moments notice. My Master taught me that. I am going to miss this world. But not as much as I will miss life here in the temple."
"And what about your mother," asked Mauria. "Will you miss her, too?" She ran her fingers through his short hair, admiring the man he had grown to be.
"I owe everything that I am today, to you mother. I love you as much as life itself and can never thank you enough for the life you provided me. I will miss your pressence, but you will be with me in everthing you have ever taught me."
"I could not be more proud to call you my son," she answered. With that Mauria wrapped her arms around one of his and led him back into the tower. "Just remember not to worry too much about your friends. They were an impressive bunch of padawans and will become fantactic Jedi. They are very capable young people who will find their own ways in the Force. Friendship is a good thing, but they can take care of themselves."

Jaq'lene's fur flashed its golden contentment as she climbed Zak's arm. "Thank you Zak." she chittered rubbing at his neck with her tail in thanks.

She broke into a grin and her fur flashed silverery anticipation. She couldn't wait to begin the mission with Rei, or with any of the rest. She knew what her disguise would have to be for the trip, a pet, she would be the mascot. It gave a big advantage when the enemy didn't know there was anotther fully capable warrior in the room, and who couldn't help but underestimate some one of her stature? "You look good Rei, do I look okay? For a pet I mean." she asked of the other blade master.
