Thoughts: if it happens, they'll ruin the character. His few parts are cool in the movies, but I have zero faith in Star Wars doing good characerzations. It would nice to be wrong, but I think that if the make him the way he is, a true bounty hunter, he will not be the hero people like as their stars.

Hmmm, I can understand the lack of faith (although it is disturbing ;) ) but we know very little about the character. He know he is a bounty hunter. I don't know what you mean by a "true bounty hunter." I guess that means that he is simply a contract killer and an evil man. For any show to be interesting there has to be more to it than that. With the right production team this could be quite interesting.

It could also suck but all things considered it's not a bad idea for a series. Take a minor character in a universe we all know and show us his adventures. Sounds like fun to me. :)

That's exactly what I mean. He goes after his prey, and gets him at any means. I think that they can either get that right or capture a wide audience. I don't see them doing both.

With good writers, crew, actors, directors, etc anything can be made with quality. But frankly Star Wars has not done any of those things, and TV is always failing more and more these days. I'd love to be wrong on this, and I hope that I am. But, while my lack of faith is disturbing, it's well earned.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. There are more ways to go about it than just that. The only thing we really know about the character (from the films) is that he hates the Jedi and eventually becomes one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy.

I guess you are assuming that the same folks who work on the films will be doing the show. While that may be the most logical way to look at it I think that the creative team will be different. Lucas won't have his finger on each episode, for example. I can't see him doing the Joss Whedon thing. Lucas will put someone he trusts in control but will be handing that person notes as to what he wants to see on the screen. As for the crew, actors and so forth not being very good I'll just have to flat-out disagree that they have done a bad job with the new films. They are very entertaining with small parts (ie. all the love scenes in AotC) that aren't very good. Just my opinion but it is a valid counterpoint. Different strokes and all that.

Heheh, I was just funnin' ya with the whole lack of faith thing. I was going for a Vaderesque joke there. ;)

I'd rather they do a completely new set of characters in the SW universe for a show. I have little faith they can turn a Boba Fett series into something worthwhile.

Maybe.

I have been hearing rumors of a Star Wars TV show for the last couple of months now. This could be a possibility.

Of course, it seems more like speculation to me. And the fact that it was scooped on AICN makes me somewhat skeptical of it in the first place.

Y'know, after reading what the spy had to say on AICN, at no point does he say Boba will be the star of the show. He does say "one of the series' villans we love to hate" is Boba Fett, and that he'll "feature significantly" in the series. I wouldn't take that to mean that this is gonna be "It's Boba Fett's Show!" or something like that.

Given that they make him out to be the villain, I could see this being a show about Jedi. I mean really, how could they have a SW show that doesn't showcase robed guys with lightsabers?

Personally, my preference for a Star Wars TV Series would be the Rogue Squadron novels, tons of character development in there, and the stories are already written very well, so hopefully the flanneled one would be able to keep his typewriter to himself :p. That and there is a whole lot of starfighter action which would play well with a lot of people.
