Star Wars games in the wake of RotS

I dunno.... I think between the execution of Order 66 and Episode IV could have good potential.
[sblock] yes but the clones would all be dead or retired of old age by then... Stormtroopers seem to be more of a normal citizen of the Empire and not clones. To expensive and Palpatine isn’t going to fit that bill. [/sblock]

Our Star Wars D20 revised game was due to start again this Tuesday, but we have instead decided to go see RotS as a group instead in order to get psyched up[ for it and then begin the following the week.

It is a game set just prior to the start of the clone wars, the group are hired by a mysterious contact to investigate the destruction of a Royal yacht on the planet Ansaar, the patron believes the vessels destruction in which the Queen of Ansaar was killed was no accident and wants the group to see if they can find any evidence of foul play.

It will have intrigue, politics, deception and murder along with a healthy dose of battle droids and a dark sith or two :)

I've had a Star Wars game in queue for a couple of years now. I just gotta find a good group to run it for.

It's set a couple of years after the Battle of Endor. The Empire didn't instantly collapse when the Emperor died. Instead, it fell into a three-way succession war between the royalists, the military, and the corporate sector. The New Republic consists of a small number of Outer Rim worlds trying to build up enough of a support network to make their final assault on the Empire and win once and for all.

Oh, and Luke is busy scouring the Galaxy for other Jedi and Jedi artifacts. No Jedi PCs yet.

I was talking about that ...17? 19 year span... There's a lot of potential between a couple of days after Order 66, and 19 years later...

And really feeling an urge to get some Star Wars gaming mojo on. Anyone wanna spill their ideas for Star Wars games? If you were to run one (whether you will or not), what kind of game would you set up and run?

I have two Star Wars campaign ideas I'd like to run someday. The first is a post-ROTJ campaign, ignoring most of the extended universe stuff. The setup is that the restored Republic refits a captured Star Destroyer as the RSS Obi-Wan Kenobi, which is both a training center for Jedi and a jumping off point for diplomatic/espionage-style missions on behalf of the Republic. Luke Skywalker would run the school, Lando Calrissian heads the intelligence outfit, other movie types would occasionally show up for cameos. I envision it as kinda sorta a hybrid of Star Wars and Star Trek.

The other is a bit more ambitious - it's an alternate timeline setting, created by wondering "what if Darth Maul had killed Obi-Wan in The Phantom Menace?" My alternate timeline includes events such as:

- Anakin never receives Jedi training, but is brought up on Naboo and learns to use the Force on his own. His rage and anger still destroys his marriage, and he ends up wandering the galaxy trying to find peace.

- Palpatine's plans don't go off nearly as well, he decimates the Jedi but a sizable number get away. A primary reason they escape is that Master Yoda gives his life buying the Jedi time. Mace Windu ultimately heads the Jedi Council in exile.

- Since there's no opening post-TPM, Count Dooku never joins the Sith. But he still has his own ambitions, and his own twisted view of the Force. After the Jedi purge, he provides a safe haven for many young Jedi.

- Padme Amidala's young son, Luke, is lost and presumed killed at age 8 when the transport he's travelling on is attacked by raiders from an unknown source.

My reason for doing all this is simply to run episodes 4, 5, and 6 with the PCs in the hero roles, with enough of a twist that it seems fresh. Leia gives them the message on the Tantive IV instead of R2 and 3PO, the old hermit in the desert turns out to be Anakin Skywalker, the Sith who they keep running into calls himself Darth Vader but is actually the missing Luke Amidala, one of the Star Destroyers they always run into is captained by Han Solo, and so on. And the PCs would be the ones who rescue Leia, warn the rebels, blow up the Death Star, etc.

If you ran it, not only would I play it, but I would supply either (a) all the 4" Star Wars figures we need (my preference, as they're the most fun to customize) or (b) Action-Fleet scale figures.
And I offer the use of a ton of Star Wars pre-painted plastic minis.

Cool. Looks like I already have some takers!

If you have some speeder bike minis, that would be very helpful, that's all I'll say...

If I were to run a game now it would be right after the events of Sith. I was thinking the same thing, 18ish years before A New Hope. And after seeing the fan movie Revalations I think thats a nice time to set a campaign.
You can still use Jedi if you want or you can do rebel type things.

The game I ran was set roughly ten years after the end of RoTS. The chaos of the Clone Wars is winding down and the galaxy is getting on with business under the New Order. The intro material makes sure the PC's know that, by and large, the galaxy loves the Emperor and the New Order. They have all grown up on the Outer Rim, though, among planets that have little need or love of the New Order. This is the place where the atrocities occur, where the new terror weapons are tested, where Tarkin's doctrine of fear is just beginning to stretch it's hand over the free worlds.

The campaign was set up to last several years, ending with the signing of the Rebellion Accords by Mon Mothma that brings all the mini-rebellions together into one cohesive force. The players have to deal with the machinations of Tarkin and the New Order as well as the complacency of the Inner Worlds.

The campaign opened with some shopping, some slice-of-life scenes on this remore Outer Rim garden world. Then Tarkin's Star Destroyer jumps in-system and Tarkin declares the planetary governor is a spy and a seperatist. Turbo-blaster fire rains down on the Governor's Palace and pods land full of Stormtroopers to secure the planet.
