Star Wars:KOTOR ad!

First Post
Finally saw my first TV ad for Knights of the Old Republic while surfing on TNN. Im not a Star Wars fanboy but looking forward to this games since its set soo far in the past, is promised to be non linear and is by Bioware.

NWN single player was kinda disappointing to me, so Im hoping this game will be the excuse I need to plug my XboX back inot my home stereo set-its been setting on the sidelines for a long time.

Anyone else hyped-or partly so?

Yes! It's the game I've been looking forward to the most this year.

I'll be waiting for the PC version though, so make sure to let me, and everyone else around here know what it's like once you pick it up.

Gamespot has updated impressions at the game, which I naturally found right after I posted.

I was going to wait for the Pc version, but it kinda seems like this may be a "gamepad" game. Plus I dont want to wait.

But if the game gets well reviewed I may wait since the possibillities for expansions (as happened for Morrowind) are a tantalizing prospect.

Hmm I guess maybe I will wait..so torn..

Arrrgghh!

PC ... GOOD!

Console ... BAD

Of course, I prefer the PC version to have more stuff than the XBOX version. Make me feel good for investing $1,000+ on a PC system.

Well the XBox version will get some downloadable content via XBox live after release.. so depending on sales it could be as expandable as the Pc version.. we'll see.

Look at Morrowind.. though it got two expansions.. XBox owners can buy the Game of the Year version this fall and get all the content. The only thing missing is the excellent user mods.

Ohhh the games out next week. Man I hope this game doesnt suck. Ive always liked Biowares work and I really hope the game is non linear. NWN single player shook my confidence a little-it was mediocre IMHO, not terrible by any means, but was given short shrift cmpared to multi.

Must.. be..patient.. for next week..

d20 rules

So has anyone heard/read how closely the d20 implementation in this game follows the rules in the d20 SW rulebook?

It sounds like they've significantly expanded on the lightsaber construction rules...

IGN's In-Depth Review - http://xbox.ign.com/articles/428/428645p1.html

Combat sounds very pen-n-paperish. Sweet.

I cancelled my pre-order for the Xbox version of this game about 2 weeks ago but I have scrounged up $50 and with www.ebgames.com free overnight shipping coupon I should have the game in my hands Thursday. :)

edit: Actually, the main reason why I reordered the game was because I ran an off the cuff Star Wars d20 game the other night and it was great fun (first time I have run Star Wars since the WEG version). The game was set about 500 years before the events of Episode One so I figure this game, while not only fun, can serve as some source material for my game.

And to boot, the whole group (with the exception of myself) are all playing Galaxies right now which means they are really in a Star Wars mood. We watched all the lightsaber duels and battle scenes from the prequels before playing. I highly recommend it...

Be quiet, John! You're making me want to go out and buy an Xbox, and I'm strapped for cash right now. :D

Seriously, though. Knights of the Old Republic sounds sweet. I'm hoping that there will be a PC port of it someday.

Sorry about that. Believe me when I say that I literally was looking under couch cushions to find some more money... :)
