Spoilers Star Wars: The Acolyte [Spoilers]

Yeah, one thing The Acolyte does that Rogue One did was show how the Star Wars universe operates for people without plot armour. Where it falls down is that it's not showing them accomplishing anything particularly positive or heroic.
Are positive and heroic things necessary, or even part of the show's mandate or intent? Just because it's set in the Star Wars universe doesn't mean it has to have the tone of the OT.

They might revisit Qimir and Osha in a different show, rather than specifically as a second season of The Acolyte.
Qimir: "Let's welcome our audience to the first episode of Star Wars Q&O!

Osha: "This week our guest is the clone of Palpatine. I'm sure the audience has lots of questions to ask before he kills them."

Well, it didn't provide much to make up for the lack of those things, so if it had a mandate, it wasn't a successful one.

What did you want from the show? For me, cool worldbuilding facts, interesting characters, and an intriguing story concept (if not necessarily execution to all tastes), in that order, were enough for me to like watching it well enough.

I agree with you but found the show lacking on all fronts. They never spent time establishing characters or really world building. It had some great concepts and never took time to invest in anything.

I do feel there is a big overlap between “Star Wars fans” and “people who like simplistic stories with black and while morality”.

If the show had been done as a samurai story, exactly the same plot and characters, it might have found a more appreciative audience.

It could definitely have used some room to breathe, but unfortunately Hollywood doesn't allow for that anymore.
