Or it's possible that people grasped its subtleties and shades of grey just fine, and still didn't like it.
I didn't say "not grasp" I said "not like". The ideas that people are either entirely good or entirely bad, organised religion is always right, and that trying to do the right thing will always work out for the best are comforting ones, and you needed to grasp the subtleties to realise that those ideas were being challenged.

Wwll the Acolyte was all over the place. Parts of it were brilliant and others parts were the dribbling poos.

Woldbuilding was also weak with cameos and member berries. New force tradition. OK what are they about? Doesn't matter they're all dead. Didn't even get a name.

They killed off everyone vaguely likeable and made Sol look like a creep trying to kidnap children. And murdered their mothers through his own stupidity. Mae is the more interesting twin tbf.

To much poorly explained mystery boxes and the Qimir reveal was bleeding obvious.

They also blitzed through everything no time to develop an of tge characters so why care when they do get killed off?

In Ahsoka they had GoT style conversations for character development eg Baylan talking about what he missed from the Jedi.

The brilliant parts were the fight choreography and Qimir.

And no one to cheer (Mae sorta but shes a murderer)for with a badly executed double turn that I've seen better in the WWE (Hart/Austin in 1997).

200 million dollars or close to it for worse than WWE and Scooby Doo writing.

3 good episodes (1,2,5), 5 mediocre to bad imho. Bit better than BoBF who had the Mandalorian season 2.5 episodes. Best debut outside of Mando S1 and 2 or Ahsoka imho.

Given that the actor died before they actually got round to doing anything with Baylan, all that "character development" was a complete waste of time that went nowhere. Ahsoka was a whole bunch of characters in search of a plot. Spoiler: they didn't find it.

Character building is pointless unless it serves the story. World building is pointless unless it serves the story.

Can't blame Disney for actor dying. Recast might work.

S2 of Ahsoka hopefully will be good there's more there indicating hope at least (better writing for Thrawn, lightsaber Duel vs Baylan/Hati, Baylans search reveal, Bridger back home etc).

Ahsoka almost (Thrawn, Sabine, Baylan) got sidelined in her own show though (Boba did) .

Baylan was only interesting because Ray Stevenson was a great actor who managed to do a lot with a few lines of corny dialogue. It's a tragedy that in the whole 8 hours of show and they didn’t give him anything to do.

Most of the eight hours was set up for season 2. The Acolyte at least managed to tell a complete story in a season.
